:iagree:
but considering their new cd is #1 on the charts, it's obvious that most people wouldn't agree with us!

I kind of like the tune......but frankly, I think it sounds a lot like Filter. U2's early stuff was great and quite original.....they should maybe reconsider their style.

I listened to an interview from the band leader (can't remember his name) but he said the only reason was because catorce sounds better than cuatro. He said the was the main reason. go figure.

There will never be another truly legendary song from U2. Most bands legendary songs are thier first ones (MAkes sense as well).
Vertigo pales in comparison to U2's previous stuff.

I do not remember a song that has been promoted on TV as much as that song and me liking it. That song is so overly marketed that regardless if one likes it or not, you can sing the first few lines of the chorus. I like the fact that it does start as 1, 2, 3, 14 in spanish. It reminds me of Kraftwerk (the german group) when they came out with "Numbers" back in the 70s.
If you read the lyrics of the song (http://lyrics.interference.com/u2/lyrics/albums/dismantle/vertigo.html), the inject a couple of more spanish words in the song. (hola, donde esta). Why? who knows, but it sounds good and different. Always did like U2

Bono says 1,2,3,14 in spanish because it is U2's 14th studio album.

a lot of songs start out like that
two that i know:
Metallica - Lepper Massiah
Offspring - Pretty Fly (for a white guy)
also "patience" by Guns n Roses starts out like that.
It's to give it a "live" feeling. When you record a song, each instrument is recorded by it self on a separate track. The live recordings arn't like this, they're just one thing recorded at the same time, sometimes, live performers count "in" the band. Some feel that counting in on the album gives it a "live" feeling as i said earlyer.
