92 Cougar - Headlights - going on & off

Evening,

Coming home late last night from the holidays, and my headlights started going on and off. Would stay on for maybe 25 mintues (which was the longest, due to continued praying!), and was stopped by 2 state troopers to add!! What a night! Should I take this to an electrical dealer? I swore I smelled something burning, but could have just been a state of panic. I called one place this morning, (not a dealer), and that is what he suggested, since electrical is a tricky thing to work with. How much could something like this cost? Great time to happen with the holidays, and is there possibly something I can check myself?

Wanted to add that my dash lights, radio, heater, and flood lights all stayed on, only the lights were going on and off.

i had a 93 cougar and i had the same problem...i had to sell the car because i couldnt figure it out

the light going on and off is the headlight switch in the dash :smile:
the part is around 14- 17 buck :smokin:
