Sorry, you will not get any support from people like me. Quit ruining your car.

i got a question about hood scoops lol, what about in the rain? i live where it always rains so people that have scoops would have tons of rain pouring into the engine bay, what do they do? i personaly dont like the look of a scoop but i am just wondering about that.

S13wanabe
11-26-2004, 01:04 PM
Well hopefully if they are stupid enough to have a scoop the water gets all over their alternator. Other than that it's not much of a problem. Some people will block them off though.

Without that stupid Scoot wannabe scoop and Skyline tails it would actually look pretty cool.

...But then again my opinion on body before power is :headshake

Yeah, why do people have to destroy cars that are already good looking. It's pretty annoying when these people get cars like a 240SX and change them to look like something else. Why try to mislead people into thinking you have money. It's lame. If you can afford a Ferrari, then get one, if not, be happy with what you can get. 240SX's are cool cars.

i agree.. if i don't see a 47" fmic in that front bumper within the next month, i'll be disappointed

Tims_240
11-26-2004, 02:53 PM
its his car isnt it? I bet he's making it look stupid because he wants it to be an ultra sleeper so when he does modify it, everyone will be surprised. :)

but i do like your choice in front bumper.

i don't like the back either, but i really don't like those body styles of the 240 anyway so maybe its just me.

Hit_N_Run-player
11-26-2004, 06:15 PM
why are the taillights so small on the back? that and the hood scoop are the only things i would disagree with...

11-26-2004, 06:17 PM
Props to the effort though

S13wanabe
11-26-2004, 06:25 PM
No props, it's an insult to the rest of us. What he is doing is RICE. It is gay and only adds weight to the vehicle, and makes it look like something it is not. I do not like it when people do that. Please, a real tuner keeps the lines of the car and might put a very mellow bodykit on that just adds a little flair. The car would still be easy to point out as a 240SX. And speed and function should always come first. If something looks special, it better be special. That means it better kick my ass in a race.

what if this guy was trying to create a showcar? i dont like the back but he could be trying to create a showcar.....

cndctrdj
11-26-2004, 11:36 PM
wow thats alot of things to say about the car.....

the hood scop is custom. i made a blockoff plate for it when it rains out.
The tail lights come out of a 78 vette. the wiring sucks, but it works. i had to use a trailer light conversion.
I also have the ram air intake for the drivers side headlight, but its not on in any of those pictures.
as for engine, ive got my trans am for speed.
i have hotshots header no cat and borla exhaust with the 8.5mm wires iradium plugs advanced the timing a bit, msd ignition, ram air (kinda). trying to find a decent cam set and then turbo.

I'm usually on the side of the guy who want's to do his own thing with his car (whether it's an SR, good stereo, or whatever) but that's just disgusting, it's, like S13 wanabe said, an insult.

s14tilo
11-26-2004, 11:53 PM
Well I agree that it shouldn't be done to a car, but thats a little harsh. Like hitnrun said, he could be doin something different for show.

You better get the right kind of cams. If you get the wrong spec cams, you'll be sorry when you do turbo.

I doubt he is going to have a 47" FMIC in the next five years.

the turbo kit i am looking at has a fmic in it, its not 47" but its big enough to run a few pounds.

honda show car ?

OF course it isn't 47". Most are about 20-30" long. Its not really how much boost it can run, but more about how much air it can flow. Flow=way more important than boost.

cndctrdj
11-27-2004, 01:49 PM
im still new to this whole turbo import thing. ive been working on a turbo shadow for a few months now. the fmic they say you need if you are running more than 10psi, so thats why i used the boost as a reference to the fmic

Sorry, I have no respect for show cars. Show cars are for people who are modding cars to get young, stupid pussy. I don't need a show car to get girls, and that's the only purpose for a show car. These guys building show cars will naver get the respect from racers, and racers are who made the car scene big, and they are the only opinions that matter.

it was an exaggeration.. hoping that he'd have something impressive in the engine bay sometime soon since he's got the money for all that body work, which i don't totally agree with.. the hood scoop reminds me of an fc3s.. (i think i got that right, don't know shitall about them) but i never said it looks good.. the rear end corvette light thing.. not so much either.. i think kouki would look a hell of a lot better but then again we must consider whats in your engine bay.. (catch 22 sorta idea).. all said and done, i'll give you that you spent the time on it and made it your own, its just that the majority of people here don't like everything about it.. as long as you're happy with it, thats what matters.. i'll tell you i'd be pretty mad if i didn't like the result of that much of my own work..

well if your a real racer then bring it on ive got a little race car too. with alot more potential than a 240, you know a real race car. not to start a flame war or anything

Ooooo, which one of mine do you want to race. I have an auto-x Civic for the track, my 240SX for drifting (although I haven't started building it yet), or my 1964 Chevy truck that my dad and I just got done building another 572ci crate motor with a nice Holley blower for. It's good for well over 1,000hp. It's still just a Ford 9" but a new rear end is coming in the future. Wow, now who feels stupid.

autocross, a kind of racing

S13wanabe
11-29-2004, 08:16 PM
I am always wanting to do more so they will naver technically be finished. The 64 Chevy has a finished drive train. It's my project that I do with my dad. It takes forever to finish things on that because of all the time you have to put into an old truck. Neither of us have much time. The Civic just got the new suspension on. The LS/Vtec is running pretty well but I will be getting a ported and polished head within the next 6 months. I'm also in the process of doing a complete master bushing set on it from energy suspension. The LS/Vtec has PR3 pistons which brings the compression from 9.6:1 to 11.5:1 and it has a fuel pressure regulator and intake. The Civic is gutted of course. The 240SX is completely stock. It's my daily driver for now but when my record cleans up it will be fixed up. I have four points on my record that will be gone in two more years. Until then, I do what I can afford, and do all the research possible so I build the 240SX exactly how I want it to perform.

how much do you pay for insurance on your 240sx?

so you say your a racer. huh, real racers do it at the track how come you cant keep your vehicles under control out thier on the street?

and if you cant afford insurance on a 240sx, how can you afford a bb crate motor that im pretty sure isnt even availible to the public?

whats your best time at the track with this 1000+hp truck

i dont know maybee its late and im reading this wrong, ill type to you guys later

cndctrdj

i did a little reaserch
you work at a movie theatre maybee 30k a year maybee
cheapest 572 was 10k with nothing on it
add about 2k for everything needed to make it run
cheapest holley blower 2600
not legal for sale in CA
which happens to be the state you live in, unless your bio is wrong

even if you could buy everything you need to make this truck, assuming you already own the truck, and didnt own any other vehicle
that would make it half the money you make before taxs would go into a truck that you couldnt possibly buy the parts for anyways, because they are illegal in CA.

now add in the multiple 1k's of dollars you put into this civic and then add the 240 and the bad insurance rates and im gonna call

BS!

but please prove me wrong

Well you are just about right on my pay. I was able to get the blower so I guess I broke the law or something. We just finished the motor and haven't put it in yet. My dad and I share the costs on the truck. I generally get deals on everything I buy. I usually have to save up for a while to get anything, that's why none of my vehicles have too terribly much done to them. It's also why it takes me so long to do them up. My dad and I have friends just about everywhere, we won't mention names. I pay $230 for liability insurance only on the Civic and the 240SX a month together. The truck is not insured because it is on nonoperational until we finish it. My last ticket was over a year ago. Let's just say I learned my lesson after getting caught doing 140mph on the freeway. After paying $513, losing my liscense for a month, and getting 2 points on my record automatically, I decided to change my ways. Sorry if I come off like an ass, I just really don't like show cars. And yes we payed that much for the motor, it was expensive as hell, but hase 720hp stock. Haven't dynoed the motor with the blower yet, don't really plan on it any time soon, we just want to get it in.

well you seem pretty legit. didnt mean to come off as a dick myself but way too many people on here are all talk and cant back anything up. good luck with the truck its gonna take alot of tuning to make it work right but when you do i would say over 1k hp isnt out of the question.

The truck looks like shit. It's funny because we have this really nice motor for it, but it's rusty and bright yellow. Since we're done with the motor our next project is to clean out the engine bay and prep it for the motor, but like everything on this truck, it takes forever. I don't have a digital camera yet, but I think my sister is getting one for Christmas, so I can put up pictures then.
