Problem with my 88 Ninety Eight Olds

Hello Everyone,

I have a problem. There is this unit right next to the radiator (drivers side). After I turn the car off, this unit is still running. I think it might be an air compressor for the vacum system but don't know enough about it. I had to electricly disconnect it so not to run battery dead.

If anyone know why this unit stays on, any help would be greatly appreciated. It just started happening yesterday.

It sound's like the air compressor for the rear suspension, you probably have a leak in the system, and it's constantly trying to re-fill the rear shocks.

he is right. it is part of the elc - the leveling suspension option. You probably have shot struts back there and there is an air leak either on the connector or the strut itself. This is a very common problem for struts to leak. Just replace the rear struts and you should be fine.

I have also had cars come in and while checking the fuse panel, the fuse for the self-leveling has been removed, I guess the car owners found replacing the struts to expensive, and just pulled the fuse.!

So the choice is yours cheap fix or the right fix!

Mr. Rob, you sound like a knowledgable kinda guy, I just bought a 92 98 and I'm trying to find the Data Link Connector. Any clues as to where it is and how I use a jumoer wire? MUCH appreciated.
