Now i have read alot of you people in here telling people not to be learning on a 600 or bikes that are bigger, which is fine and makes sense as far as safety. With that said, is it bad that i learned on my uncles Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird with 1100 cc's under my nuts. I mean it all in how you use the power of the bike and i was about as ripe as the come. Only driven my bros dirt bike a few times and had't done that for a few years. Basically just saying, yes it is important to know what ur doing and being on the right size bike, but i had no problem learning on prob one of the fastest bikes around at its time when it was new in 97.....be curious to hear some feed back, please reply

Sure, I hopped on an 800cc bike my first year of riding.... was it smart? NO Did I have ANY idea of what the bike was capable of? ABSOLUTELY NOT

Start small, ride smart, SSU, SSD

i believe people should start off on "smaller" bikes. it only comes down to the rider and ability. when you fuck up on a bike, it can hurt. bigger bikes tend to have a bigger impact when you fuck up. With so much going on around a learner i.e traffic, lights, soccer mums (moms), and taxis, it would be a whole lot safer knowing that on a 250 you need to fully open the throttle to move quickly whereas on a 1000cc its a small twitch to get the same response.

down here we have a learner die every 6 days* in cars but very few (maybe zero) deaths of learners on bikes. difference is we have a restriction on learners bikes but not on cars. kinda says something huh

*deaths related to provisional licenced drivers accidents
we had 6 last week in 3 high powered cars being split in two after hitting power poles

oh ya i agree with ya.
(time frame is bout 7mth time)THIS IS WHEN I WAS bout 17 i owned a R-6 i rode and rode and rode all day every day. I got comfortable with it and i was kinda happy but i wanted more and thought 750 was to small so i wanted a 1000.(my balls are made of brass) <--------sounds like a newbie.
Then one day my boy comes out from dc and brings his R-1 and im like yo let me hit that up he throws me da keys and tells me i lay it down hes goin to fawk me up. So i take it out im riding around town havein fun like whoa. I look up and see the exit for 66 so i lean to the right change lanes and get on to 66 i get down over the gas tank and let it rip. well as we all know it ripped and i shit my pants(not really) damn wow so much power it seemed to have no end. I rode it back and happily threw him da keys, i had my fun. So that made me decide i needed more experiance before i needed power. So after that no rookie rider should get a fast bike off da start. Start small then work your way up.

Justin, we aren't mad at ya, we're just speaking our minds.

Why in the world would you want to buy a 2k+ bike? They REALLY aren't all that different than the pre-2k bikes, except a few changed from carbs to fuel injection, which isn't THAT big of a deal. Get a cheap bike and save yourself some bills on both the purchase, AND insurance. ;)

EXCELLENT SITE!!! Oh, and if you want to find a nice bike at a nice price, you gotta look more than 10 miles away. Why do you think Ebay is so popular? I have travelled from Pittsburgh, PA to Cincinnati, OH to get a bike at a price I liked. You gotta be willing to travel.

Not neccesarily true. I could argue over this for days, but I just woke up. If you absolutely must have a 600, then look at older 600's like CBR F2's and such.

For you people that know anything about suspension... im about 5'6 id say and only about 115lbs, when i get a bike im more than likely gonna have to lower it, just cause id be on my tippy toes all the time. How many inches should it be lowered for a good ride(non scraping) and still be able to flat foot it? ps-i'd say for a stock R6
