vehicle safety concerns

This post is for opinions, stories, and complaints concering vehicle safety:
Almost everyone remembers the Ford/Firestone battle.I would just like to say on that topic*JUST CAUSE A TIRE FAILS,DOESNT MEAN YOUR VEHICLE SHOULD TRY TO KILL YOU!!! Over 16,000 (reported)Ford Explorers have been involved in rollovers related to tire blowouts.More than 200 deaths are related to this*tragedy*.Thats according to a brief research conducted by myself,so feel free to correct me if i am wrong.

Next time your on the highway next to a ford*Exploder*,you think about the statictics.I dont care what kind of tires you sport,it shouldnt kill you just cause your tire gives up the ghost while going down the street. Its not only unsafe for the explorer passengers, but also for anybody else in a vehicle driving near one when it goes out of control.

The BroncoII, Ford Explorer And Mercury Mountaineer have basically the same front and rear suspensions, steering systems and ratios, chassis, and tires. They are a narrow track high center of gravity vehicle, with a swing axle suspension.Ford asserts Firestone is to blame for the injuries and deaths related to this topic.

I was cruisin down the highway about 65MPH on new tires, when suddenly i developed a akward feeling vibration from the front end.(tire shop failed to tighten lugnuts)All the sudden i see a tire go bouncing wildly passed me,on its way to the ditch. In a matter of about a second or so,i think to myself,"huh, that kinda looked like my tire"...Less than 2 tents of a second after my feelings of denial, the concern and reality set in,as the front passenger side of my car hit the ground .As a result much of my suspension and steering was destroyed. Its probably a good thing i was in the far right lane, cause thats the direction I was drug. But i got it stopped on the shoulder, and no deaths resulted.

I don't have an opinion on the tires being at fault, but thats gotta be a f'ed up feeling to see your OWN tire and wheel roll past you, LMAO!!

i had just sunk like a bunch of money in the tires, and was ready for the indy 500.until my wheel falled off.It messed the car up too.And the tow truck had to use a hook to get it high enuff for the flatbed. The bumper ended up getting torn up,cause the hook slipped off the stabalizer. i got the car home and started stripping it the same day.The tire and wheel survived

Did the tire shop assume any responsibilty? I mean, brotha, I'd have rolled in there like the wrath of god.

no they said my lugnut studs were bad(easy to say when they are all sheered off)and that none of my lugnuts matched.i couldnt argue that, cause the proof was laying on the highway, and i had two locking lugnuts on each tire.So i asked for my money back. They said*sorry but unless the tire is faulty,we dont do refunds, exchanges,or replacements.i never went back. And i found out an attorney would have costed more than the tires, and i didnt exactly have a ground breaking case.I guess it happens all the time or somthing...
I gave up and junked the car,and let the tires dry rot in my yard

ehhh, no offense, I like black and all (it was what I was getting if they couldn't do Gunmetal) but its a pain in the ass to keep clean, although it does look damn sharp when ya do  I've always wanted a car this color, and no better car could I find to put it on :lol2: but anyhow, that sucks about the tire shop, thats just straight up bad business, not owning up to thier botched job.

By the way, man I really like the rims in that pic.... :evillol:

its cool that happened years ago.ive had two better cars since that one anyways.hell that was in my 79 monte carlo.i had so many good times in that car.if you could take a photo from sombodys memory, you could get some from mine of that car launched four feet off of the ground, going over rail road tracks.it was black too,had some rally wheelsand overloads. I thought it had wings man.and it never blew up like those pintos did.Thats one of the things i liked about that car,it never exploded or flipped over once on me.

Had a friend who got a set of wheels installed on his 66 chevy pickup. On the way home, his wheel flew off. The tire shop told him that he didn't request lugnuts for aluminum wheels. Luckily it didn't tear up the truck.
I gotta agree with Silver87ta, those are some nice looking rims!

Thanks to both of you,i think they are pretty nice too for progressives.they are really light for an aluminum wheel too

here r some technical service bulletins regarding 82 f-birds:

-rapping in vicinity of fuel pump below 70 degrees F.(82 v8 engines with 4 barrel carbs only)
-rear brake moan at low speeds under light brake application.(82 models only)
-rattle in parking brake at left rear of vehicle(82 models only)

I got those from my haynes manual and I experience the brake moan one in my 82.
