Just try going to the cell phone place and asking them.

Does it have a SIM card or not? If yes, then just switch them and try it out. I'm guessing it won't work unless it has a SIM card.

No it won't work. You have to buy the phone from the carrier you have. the only exceptions are the GSM phones (AT&T, Cingular, and T-Mobile). Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA, but they're just different in the technology they use in their phones connectivity. I worked for Cingular twice back before and when they just switched to GSM (here in NY, they had it down in the southern states before it was up here), and I got asked that question all the time. I worked at Best Buy where they sold Cingular, Sprint (the carrier I have my phone from), T-Mobile, and AT&T. And my bro works for AT&T (soon to be Cingular) and my mother works for Verizon; just saying that so people don't think the ex-cingular boy is pulling this info out of his arse :D

I got lied to from the first day I worked there. I was told I would get bonuses for seeling a certain amount of phones, and then a month later I asked about it I was told that my boss never told me that. Worst part of it was that my MOM was my boss at the time. Then I got harassed by the Best Buy managers on a daily basis, because the last people who were there from Cingular lied to customers and then took it out on me. Then they changed bosses on me 2 more times, each one getting worse than the last. The last boss was it, he would tell me I was lying to him about when I worked or left, and threated to cut back my hours and fire me. So I quit right before Thanksgiving last year (right before "Black Friday") he begged me to not leave until after X-mas but they screwed me too many times so I screwed him. I mean the $ was good when I actually had customers to sell to. But it just wasn't worth the problems I had to deal with.
