Ok. Here is where I am so far. Can someone help me to the next step? Project vehicle is 1966 Pontiac Bonneville, so emissions are not an issue. Vehicle weight is about 4500 lbs.
-Cadillac 500, 8.7:1 CR
-Very mild cam, about 204 degrees at .050", .488" lift
Here are the project goals:
-5500-6000 rpm redline
-600 hp/700 tq
-91 octane (the best I can get in L.A.)
-PR = 1.68 (10 psi)
-2 turbos
-1 air/air intercooler
-complete Multiport EFI conversion
I have to do some more research on the Caddy bottom end, but I have a caddy forum for that :) For now, assume that the engine is ready to handle it. I know that other Caddy guys have had success with 7-8 psi, so that's reseach for another website.
Now for the questions:
-Given the cam, octane, and CR, does this look like a reasonable goal?
-During the EFI conversion, which is better for forced induction, MAP or MAF?
-How much does air weigh? Or how do I determine lb/min? I need to know so I can convert CFM to lbs/min to read the compressor maps.
-Once I find compressors that are proper for my application, how do I select turbine size and A/R?
-I know now that the compressor determines flow given your engine parameters, the boost contol (usually a wastegate) determines boost, so is it the turbine that determines the RPM range and boost threshold?
-Should I be considering a VATN unit like an Aerodyne? How much more do they cost and is it worth it?
Thanks so much

Mr. Curtis73, How much reading you welling to do? I can answer each and every question but i'd like for you to do some research as I know you'd put it to good use and pass on what you learn. If your welling I can help you and here's your start.

Now after you have read these and understand you and I are going to have some serious thing to talk about. There's lots of myths and false information floating around the world but if you stick with facts you'll always come out on top.
When your ready let me know and we'll setup a game plan. OK?
You don't live too far from me...how good a driver are you?

Excellent links, thank you! I shall read them all top to bottom. I spend hours a day on the internet reading stuff just like this.
When you say, "how good a driver," are you talking about autoX, drag, long haul... I'm a driving freak if that's what you mean. I've been known to drive cross country back to PA just to see my family. :)

Me and my sponsors are looking for a driver to take over my driving. I'm a old drag racer and it's time to pass it on. Were building a new Pro Import 6 second car and need a driver.

Oh, I get ya. Sorry to say I couldn't do your team or sponsors justice. I'm an OK 12-second driver, but I can't cut a good tree to save my life :)

And your honest and know your limits. In life there's wanna bee's and gonna bee'. Your a gonna bee great with cars. Alot of people think they know it all, and there unteachable. Then there's the one's that are always seeking for new ways, looking for different ideas, researching to find answer's, asking questions there the gonna bee's, the ones in the winner's circle. The wanna bee's well always be the wanna bee's and their the ones that poke fun at new ideas and put down everything that doesn't fit into their limited thinking space, cause they know it all. The DNF's.
A true car lover loves cars. Don't matter which make, model what engine it has or what country it was made in, it's a car. Nothing wrong with liking a certian brand or type of engine, there all engineering marvel's, some better the others, but still wonderful.
Some of these car lovers devote their lives to the engines while other's the transmission or drivetrain, chassie geomerty, induction, exhaust or any part of the car, people like Isky, Dean Moon, Keith Black, Wyand, Offenhauser, Mickey Thompson, Ed Pink just to name a few pioneers, then you have the guys that put it all togather like Shelby and Duntov.
Then there were the guys that took all the different tallents and put togather cars that were beyoun anything of their time. Lance Raventlow, Craig Breedlove all these guy had one thing in common, the love of cars.
Curtis, welcome to the gonna be club.
