Hey there, i am going to buy a 1991 GSX after i sell my 2001 GS. I will roughly 7 grand to pump into this car. I need advice on what i should do first. this car has to stay a reliable daily driver, and still kick ass at the track. I first want to upgrade the Turbo, and ECU. I have also been told that the axels are pretty weak as well, and thinking of putting on some stage two axels. the problem is that i am not sure who makes the best products. what are you'r guys's opinios? I alsoplan on making this car a full sleeper so please dont recomend any body kits or wheels. thanks!

And drop the "stage" terminology, no such thing as staged axles for DSMs. They are either stock, or not. The 91 has the 3 bolt rear, so the rear axles are weak. What 99% of people do is upgrade to a 4 bolt rear and axles from the later cars (92 up?). I dont think they even offer upgraded axles for 3 bolts...

If you really want to make this car fast and keep it reliable, lets talk about transmissions. Get it sent out and upgraded. You already should have the stronger 3-4th gear set, just get it rebuilt and get a 4 spider center diff. www.shepracing.com is the place to go. Make sure the Tcase recall was done and its not leaking any fluid.

For ECU upgrade you need an EPROM ECU. If you have one, I would highly suggest 1g DSMlink. It's been released already for the people on the waiting list, shouldnt be long before its publicly available.

For turbo it depends on how fast you want to go, and how reliable you want to be. Also, the bigger the turbo the more moey you need for other mods. After the tranny and DSMlink, you're down to ~4500 or so. What are your goals for performance?

im trading my 2001 eclipse gs, and also getting $9000 in trade money. this guy is like 60, and is the owner. Im deffinently jumping on this. also the insurance is cheaper. my roomate justhanded me a copy of Sport Compact Car Feb. 2004 which has a ultimate car competition. in there is a 1994 gsx, that is almost stock, and really kicks ass. it has the basic upgrades, but thats it. perhaps i'll keep it stock for a while. its cherry still hasnt ben popped yet. its an Arizona car too, so there is no rust!
