This car is to be an aggressive daily driver/weekend warrior(i love to drive, 65k in 2 years). i just bought an 99 gsx 5 speed unmodded, i have ordered a 3" turbo back and high flow cat, i'm considering purchasing an evo header(bad idea or good?). I'm in the market for a new turbo and bov(or internal waistgate). I've looked at 16g's and 20g's among anything else i could find. I am also unsure of what level of turbo timer to go with. And am i forgetting anything?

I dont see any mention of fuel upgrades ;) EVO16g is a good street turbo, and for a big street turbo the TDO6H 20g was my favorite. Anything bigger and you should really know what you are doing. I would probably suggest EVO16g, AFC, logger, 190, and 660s, since this will be mainly pump gas use. There are a lot of varaibles though.

16gs come internally gated for the wastegate--there isn't much need for an external wastegate with these turbos. You will need a bov regardless. Kevin's suggestion of the EvoIII 16g is the most popular street turbo right now, good for about 400 hp maxed out. Turbo timers all do the same general thing--let your car idle for a set amount of time, then shut it off. Each has specific features--the HKS type1 TT is probably one of the coolest (has features like a G-tech), although I like my Apexi pen-style personally.
You are forgetting:
1) datalogging system
2) fuel pump and injectors
3) fuel control
4) air filter and adapter
5) boost controller
6) less restrictive intercooler piping

Do your research first. It appears that you aren't familiar with the difference between a BOV and wastegate? They are completely separate parts. I'm assuming you looked around a little and came across 16g and 20g as popular turbos. There are a lot more options. Check out the site list and look for info on the correct order to mod your car. The evo 16g or 20g would be my suggestion for you, but they both come with several thousands of dollars in supporting mods.
Stock exhaust manifold (you called it a header) is fine. Worry about flow after the turbo, which is o2 housing and back. Turbo timers don't have 'levels' so if you want one, get any of them.

why the 18g? i was stuck on that because of the very nice [and CA legal] GReddy kit. but really the EVO 16G flows just as much as the 18G and also just under the 20G.
try to get unstuck on the 18g like i was.
do a search on 18g and see what comes up [in AF]
lots of good info you will find... [that was a little Yodaish... lol]
