sad story

Yea just tonite i blew my U-joint on my driveshaft :banghead: , was taking an old friend out i havent seen for 3 years for a spin when i went to do a 3 grand launch and bang...u joint blew...good thing i was only a mile away from home...anyhow...should have it fixed friday :frown:

wow, R U OK! that sucks man... u joint, refresh my memory , what is that? (is it the link in the drive shaft, if so then wow!!!) that thing should not break!!!!! good luck and keep us posted!

The U joint is where the driveshaft bends, it's like 2 joints together that look likes Us. I think that's it.

after getting the thing up in the air this morning i realize now it wasnt the u joint itself that broke..but the pinion that holts it togather...only one side snaped...still shitty though...anyone know of stronger ones...or aprox how much to replace?

I broke a driveshaft at the front U joing at over 120mph trying to top speed my 1966 Mustang GT...

It carved the fvck out of the highway but fortunately I didn't flip....it broke the transmission though as it smacked it.

enjuku makes aluminum driveshafts, you could look into those but they are mighty expensive.

the asshole that did my swap didn't tighten the driveshaft down all the way and it fell off two days after i got it back. a used driveshaft with carrier bearing bracket and everything you need should go for about $125 or less at a local junkyard. the should include ujoints.

actually i already have an aluminum drive shaft...maybe i'll take some pics of the damage...stupid yoke..
