I'm selling my '93 to get a newer Caravan/Voyager & want to find out if there have been any model years that are particularly good or bad (frequency of repair / chronic problems. I can afford up to a '98.
For example, the 3.6 liter engine was replaced by the 3.8 liter engine. The 3.6 is strong and totally trouble-free; is the 3.8?
AC? Transmissions?
Thanks, Space Cowboy

Re: Reliability of engines, transmission, essential systems
in 1993 (mine) versus later model years:
Oops, I meant 3.3 liter engine, powerful enough.
A 3.8 has more power but is it as reliable & long-lived as 3.3?
(my 3.3 L has 200K miles in a 1993)
3.3,3.0,2.5,2.2,3.8,2.4L

Owned 2, a 1993 with 135,000 not much went wrong other than the paint and wear items. I currently have a 2005 model, Like it alot, but my wife drives it! I am stuck with my Jeep (love it)

If the 3.8 is the same engine as the 3.8 in Dodge trucks its a 318 with two cylinders chopped off.Ford has a 3.8 in their Windstar van its a POS from what ive heard, but the Dodge engine is good.
