Hello, I recently purchased a 88 Civic 4dr LX, it needs a headgasket and has like 116,000 miles. it seems to run ok. What brand of headgasket should I buy for it? I saw a kit on ebay made by yonaka motorsports for a decent price and was wandering if I should buy that? what about fel pro are they any good? I also searched and found that some people say I can reuse the bolts and some say you can't, where can I buy some headbolts for the D15 B2? do I really need to? I plan on using the car for a daily driver but I will probably be hard on it. anyother advice you have is appriciated.

I would replace it using a z6 (92-95 civic ex/si) or y8 (96-00 civic ex) head gasket and make sure it is the 3 layer steel head gasket. This is the best choice as the steel head gaskets are more durable and give a better seal. In fact, Honda themselves use the newer head gaskets on the crx's. They don't use those crappy carbon metallic felpro gaskets.

Felpro constantly upgrades their gaskets from the manufacturers versions. If any tsb's (techical service bulletins) go up about a certain gasket because its failed on many occasions, felpro figures out how to improve it and they offer that as a substitute to the public. I like them...

Who is Nascar? What kind of car does Nascar drive? Nascar isn't a particular car or racing team... Nascar just puts their name on that junk to help sell it. I guarantee none of those nascar drivers are using that junk. You think all of the Nascar teams use fel pro head gaskets on their cars? And if they were too...they wouldn't be using that carbon metallic paper head gaskets that fel pro sells. Half the crap autozone sells has a Nascar label on it. It doesn't mean that the Nascar drivers use Fel pro head gaskets. It just means that fel pro and Nascar have an agreement to put their names on certain products.

actually i work at an autoparts store and some customer put up this argument. i called FelPro Direct and talked to the owner and he told me that there are some nascar teams that do use their products. not all.... but some... he said thats the only way teams can have that on there car, they have to use the product to have that companys logo on there car. and in turn Nascar got there logo on FelPros packages. not a single person that i've given a gasket to has had a problem if they installed it CORRECTLY. noone ever calls and complains that the gasket failed on them, the only complaints we get are "u gave us the wrong product, we need it for a 3.1 not a 2.2" in which i respond. u didnt know the motor size.... its ur fault. god i hate those kind of people

Oh yea, I forgot to mention in my post to go with the z6 or y8 gasket like bambam said. metal is better than any graphite gasket. I hate those things.

Why would someone complain that the gasket gave out??? they simply rteplace it again. i used to have a dodge daytona shelby z...2.2 turbo...changed head gasket twice...felpro first time and mopar performance the second time....didnt have a problem after mopar gasket was in...failprone blew out first week it was in. thats why im partial to oem
