is a nice 12" torque convertor worth $300? i know it will help my launch capabilities.. and im not looking for anything that spectacular.. seeing as how my car is my daily driver.. do you guys think it would be worth it? or if its even something i should be looking into..

from my understanding smaller torque converters are "tighter" with less slippage, better for highway use, while larger diameter torque converters tend to have more slippage and higher stall speeds. And dont quote me on this, but i seem to rememeber hearing that you want to run the smallest diameter converter you can while still getting your desired stall speed. but i cant remember where i heard/read it. id email TCI or B&M and ask them about the effect diameter has on a torque converter.

the choices i really have are between 9.5 and 12.. a 9.5 is supposed to make my car launch like a freakin beast.. bringing the cost to around 800 bucks.. where as the 12 is supposed to be a goos upgrade from stock, but really no comparison to the 9.5.. but at a small 250-300 price.. im not looking to turn my v6 into a drag car.. lol, just lookin for a little launch so it doesnt look so bad when i take on hypsi in july and get my ass handed to me.. lol

The 12 inch converter has its uses, but not for the application i believe you want it to serve.I recommend a 10 inch converter, with your choice of stall. It will rip them straight to the bone,or put-put out of the hole.
