A batteries

Anyone ever seen an "A" battery... I've seen lots of "AA" and "AAA", and for the first time today, I saw a "AAAA" battery, but I've never ever seen (or heard of) a plain old "A" battery... this smacks of conspiracy...

And what about "B" batteries too?! Lot's of C's and D's, but no B?! I call for an indipendint council to investigate this matter.

imagine the confusion if we had "A" sized batteryies

"I'll have a battery thanks"
"ok..what size?"

I find it most difficult to find C batteries. Always plenty of AAA, AA, and D about, as well as 9V, but on the rare occasion I need C's for, say, my flashlight, they're nowhere to be found.

Well, when was the last time you saw a 'B' drive in a computer? Lots of C and D drives, but no B's. This is discrimination against the second letter of the alphabet! :disappoin

I don't really like the letter B....I don't really care that there are no 'B' batteries to be found. Now 'C' on the other hand I find regularly...where have you been looking?

My grandpa had a B drive

They're the original "floppy" disk. I'm not sure how much memory they held, but they were about 1.5 times bigger than the 'A:' disks.

They were phased out in the early 90's as the Floppy diskettes were wider popular, and CD's were coming into use.
But B drives to exist, and you can still buy them, and the disks for them (they don't make them anymore, so i'm talking garage sales, etc)

I remember using B: drives on a regular basis :uhoh:

Amazing how old 20 can feel sometimes - and it's just going to get worse...

My Kaypro has a B drive. And no hard drive. You boot off of the floppy in A, and save data to the floppy in B. (5 1/4 disks, I remember that the TRS-80 Model II featured two 8" drives, which I'm sure prompted many computer nerds to say things like "Hey, wanna see my 8" floppy?")

My TRS-80 Model 4 has twin 5 1/4"ers.

My Commodore 128 only has one external 5 1/4"

So I guess I'm not the only one with a Model IV on automotiveforums.
I also have a Commodore PET - which has no drives or operating system (it loads basic from ROM), though you can hook up a tape drive to save data. It sits in my basement with the IV, the Kaypro is in my room since I still use it sometimes.

Yeah, I got it for free. Had the opportunity to have 10 TRS-80's (models 3 and 4) for free, but declined - though looking back I would have taken them all and sold the lot.

BTW, my Model IV is for sale ;)
