thinking of buying a VR-4, but need some info first

i'm looking at buying a 3000GT VR-4 or the dodge counter part R/T.

but i needed some info first such as i've seen A LOT with spun out main bearings...i'm guessing that it happens a lot or is it that they are using poor oil? (kinda sounds like there not using the right oil)

also one of my friends says that they have a lot of elec. problems. is that true?

i'm really thinking of getting one because 1. there fast. 2. i've liked them ever since i got my hands on GT2. 3. there just plain cool.

but i'm not really in the position to get a car that has a habbit of creating problems. mainly because i don't have alot of money and my pride and joy 1987 lowrider chevy silverado was stolen from my house in the middle of the day while i was at work.

thanks for the help

Umm yea alot of those questions are in the FAQ forum, but like (I think Igovert500 said) the tranny synchros are either a hit or a miss, so b4 you buy the car look into a carfax, and you seem like a pretty good mechanic already, but if not, take one along with... oh btw, did u no that the dodge stealth version of the VR-4 is actually the R/T TT ...? Don't wantcha buying the wrong car :)

It is an all-around expensive car, maintence, gas, insurance, nothing is cheap...it's a sports car. I suggest you read the FAQ, as I'm sure it will answer 90% of your questions.

As far as electrical problems...I've never had any, and I don't hear anyone complaining about them...so no, they aren't common.

Spun bearings, do occur every once in awhile, typically moreso in the first generation cars with the weaker crank. So if you are concerned about this, aim for a 93+. The changes in internals are listed in the FAQ as well. Check it out.
