my 95 blazer has a little smoke coming out the exhaust. blue smoke. i know that blue smoke is oil. so i thought that i should try to change my pcv valve before going to my head gasket. question is.. where is it? i bought the valve and i tried to find it today but no luck. i didnt have much light. thanks in advance

Look on the passenger side of the engine block on the valve cover. A grey, plastic tube will meet a 90 degree rubber boot, inside the boot will be one end of the PCV. No need for tools, grasp and twist the whole works and it will pop out. Assembly is the reversal of the proceedure.

Blue smoke is from worn rings and valve guides and has nothing to do with the head gasket.

O-rings on valves will do this too on start up. Does yours do it even after warmed up and running for awhile?

it doesnt do it at start up. it happens when i leave the car at idle for 5 or more mins. like when i let it warm up in the morning. light blue, a lot of smoke.

Hmmmm......

Might have some worn rings or maybe the valve seals need to be redone.

i bought the PCV valvve today, i know where it goes but the "L" shaped boot that holds that to the hose is ripped on on side. i put a zip tie on there and it holds wonderfully. my question is... what goes through the pcv valve. and how can i determine if the old one is bad or not?

Well, it used to be be the rattle. If you can rattle it, it is ok.

But I recently replaced my PCV valve and it rattled but wasn't working well when it got warmer. It would start to bind.

Either way, don't worry about it, you have a new one installed. You might want to pickup another L for the hose.
