2001 Front output shaft seal replacement

I was wondering if anyone knows for sure the way to replace the output shaft seal on the front axle on the passenger side of my 2001 Tahoe. Does the front differential have to be split? Or can the output shaft be pulled out without removing the differential? I would appreciate any and all info.
