I own a 1977 Camaro with the base 6-cylinder motor and automatic transmission. The car has idiot lights. I have a couple of good gauge clusters I would like to used. Can anyone offer help and/or advice on making the conversion from idiot lights to gauges? All help is appreciated. -- Ed

your best bet would be to order a gauge cluster package from summit or jegs. some oil pressure gauges have an oil line that runs through the firewall and feeds the gauge, others have a pressure sensor and the gauge is electrical. you can pick between a volt gauge or an amp gauge. your block already has the sensor for the temp gauge, but i'm not sure if it would work for an aftermarket gauge.

I should have added: the gauge clusters I have are from donor Camaros with factory gauges ... I'd like to switch the original idiot light instrument panel with a panel from a full-gauge car. Any ideas on what I need to make this swap? THANKS to all! -- Ed

this is an easy swap out of the idiot light cluster to the factory original gauge cluster{same shape and size}. the wiring stays intact as it is the same, the only thing you'll need to buy are the sending units at the engine for your specific gauge setup, there are two styles of sending units for idiot lights or for gauges. there is no modification at all just a straight swap out!
