Slow Heater

88 Carmy LE
The heater is very slow. After the engine is running in the normal temperature, the air is just luke warm. Takes about 10 minutes to feel the hot air. Is this normal for Camry? Do I need to bleed anything? Anyone has the same problem?

Three things I know of that can cause this:

1 Low coolant level
2 THermostat sticking open
3 Hot water control valve on firewall not opening fully.

I've had all three condition at one time or another.

Good Luck

I have been having a simular problem, how do you know if the Hot water control valve is opening fully or not?

Well on earlier models, start engine, move heat control to full hot, open hood, observe top of valve ( there is a small angle with a push/pull wire thru it), move to full cold, observe top of valve again.
I've actually had this push/pull wire slip out of the angle on the valve and the temp will stay at where the valve was positioned at.
Hope this makes sense. Unfortunately this wire is not directly directly hooked to the temp control slider, it is indirectly pushed and pulled by vaccuum, so you mave have a bad hose!
