Doors Dun Lock!!

yea my buddy just has a 95 sedan and the locks won't lock on the outside does n e one used to have this prob or knows how to fix it plezz help me out!! thankz:bandit:

i had a similiar problem my driverside door wouldnt lock when the door was open so i have to pull the outside handle and push the lock botton at the same time. sorry if i didnt help

That is Hondas low tech security...You can't lock the keys in the car. You are (according to Honda) supposed to lock the drivers door from the outside, with the key. But you can hold either the inside handle or outside handle and push the lock button.

Dude....if you have a problem with your door, take off your door panel and figure it out.
The locks work with a series of rods that push and pull various things. If it don't work then there's a spring in the locking mechanism that don't work OR the rod is bent, not hooked up or any other assortment of problems that'll cause the lock not to trip. You gotta get in there and poke around.

i kno about that honda safety lock thing but like she told me she can't lock her door from the outside with her key... maybe its time for a new lock set?? n if it is are they ez to install?

If you kno how to get INTO your door...take off your interior panel for your door (4-5 screws/very easy) and check the actual locking mechanism. Screw around with it and see what happens when you try to lock it from the outside while actually LOOKING at it...more then likely you prolly got a bent rod or an unhooked rod, very easy to fix.

This is an easy fix. Pull off the inner door panel, remove the right upper edge of the plastic water shield, roll the indow up so you can see the back of the door handle and cylinder, and look for the rod that comes from the door latch mechanism to the door handle. There are 2 of them. 1 is for the actual handle and 1 is for the cylinder. The cylinder rod probably just came out of the connector.
....all ya gotto do is push it back in and flip the clip over, unless the clip is broken(substitute some galvanized steel cable to wrap around it), and hopefully you haven't bent the rod from rolling the window up/down alot.
