i know that u may have seen this question alot but im tired of looking. so if u can tell me what the a or zcg in b16a(zcg) means or point me to where i can find this information would be really cool. this question even goes as far as what b2 c5 and all that jazz means as well. when it comes to nissan engines its a tad bit easier such as sr20det means (sr) engine series, (20) displacement, (d) DOHC, (e) electronic fuel injected, and last but not least (t) turbo. im jus coriouse about what this stuff means on the hondas. thanks in advanced

Well say a b16a. B is the engine series, 1.6 is the displacement, and then the A i don't think really means anything other than a way to tell the engines apart. There are so many different variations of each motor. Say the b16 for instance, there is the b16a (SiR, pre-'92), b16a (SiR2 '92-'95), b16a1 (not sure which one that is), b16a2 ('99-'00 USDM Si), b16a3 (USDM del sol), b16b (Civic Type R).

i think the b16a1 came in europe, but usually when you see people talking about a b16a1 they are referring to the generation. like people refer to the obd0 b16a as the b16a1 even though the stamp only says b16a, same for the obd1 b16, evne though its only stamped b16a, people usually refer to it as a b16a2 because its the second gen. etc

yeah I hate when people call the SiRII engine the b16a2. Especially when they're asking about swapping it in their car, because then you have to figure out if you need to tell them about the OBD wiring at all. Whenever I see someone ask a question about swapping in a b16a2, I only assume they are talking about the '99-'00 Si motor... f*** 'em.

No Kidding. People should be smart enough to know that JDM motors never came with revision numbers tagged on at the end of the codes.
