does it overheat only when the car is sitting still and idling or does it overheat all them time including during highway driving? First I would try fix the fan problem... check the fan motor to see if it is functioning properly by using jumper wires to the fan connector right to the battery terminals... if it goes on then you know the fan motor is still good in which case you should then check the fuse and the fan motor relay... as far as the overheating you may want to check the thermostat, it's not uncommonfor them to become either stuck closed or stuck open... in your case the thermostat may be stuck closed thus not allowing the coolant to circulate throughout the engine and the radiator... hope this helps you some if not put up another post with any more info you may have of what exactly is going on with the engine.

this happened to me a couple months ago. its the temp sensor on the thermostat housing. my fan would not come on by itself but, when i turned the a/c the fans came on. what you can do to test this is get a small peice of wire, disconnect the wires from the sensor on the thermostat housing and jump them with the small piece of wire and turn the key to the on position. if it comes on then it is the sensor.

You need a new thermostat. Also please read the post dates in the future. ;)
