Should I try and save this camaro?

From the looks of its a 2nd gen z28 camaro only visible damage is cracked windshield and no rear window
Dont know if you can really see in front of it but its a white corvette also 2nd gen.
I was wondering do you think its worth it to try and buy and fix it up.
The people who "own" them hardly speak english so i have to do my best spanglish and see if i can get a price for either of the cars out of them, Hoping to sneak a deal with them and get it for dirt cheap.

How long have they been sitting?

looks alright, id definitely try and save it since it is a Z-28, should defineitley be worth saving

definatly seen worse, id say its definatly worth trying to save. the only thing is, these things rusted like mo-fos around the rear window, truck, and quarters with the window intact, seeing as its not there. you might have some rust issues below the surface. so long as thats not a big deal, i say go for it.

www.google.com find the tab "language tools" set the translator to "English to Spanish" maybe that will help some :D
Btw. it doesn't look like it's in horrile condition

i know enough spanish to ask to buy the car and how much mileage but farther then that ill need a translator.

Since the 89 rs is almost fixed. My gf's dad wants another project car since he has a 3 car garage empty and a ton of time on his hands. So looking into cars to get for him to work on. So if you have a project car your looking to sell please pm me with info(midwest only).

good luck getting them, i went up to a house that had a 427 corvette in waist high weeds and offered 3k, it was an old man and he was a *ss hole, he said he didnt want to sell it. well it was setting under a tree, a storm blowed the tree over on top of it and destroyed the front end of the car. i'd say the owner wished that he took the money.

thats what he gets lol. anyone think i could a package deal for both. I know this sound crazy for these 2 cars but i was thinking offering them 1k for both. Yes i said 1k lol. Where I found these two cars thats alot of money. Ill try and find a picture of what that vet looks like.

well its not exactly like that but u get the jist of it. I am surprised too. for once my gf argeed i could get another car and this time its could be two. i have a place to store them now too lets hope i get one of them cause come spring could be the hottest thing on the street

That is a '78 Z28 that came with the LM1 350/4bbl Quadrajet, rated at a weak 165bhp. If originally sold in California it would have the LG-3 305/2bbl, rated at a weaker 130 bhp. Either of these engines came with, most likely, a TH 350. 54,907 Z28's were built that year. Less than half remain in restorable condition. If that car has been in Chicago since it was sold you may have to replace quite a bit of sheetmetal. Even down here in S.E. Texas they seem to have more than average rust. Don't be fooled by the polyurethane bumpers and pretty coat of paint. Look underneath and do a little pounding on the floor and quarter panels. But just in case you want and do get the Z28, parts for everything from floor pans to (all) glass to the last nut and bolt is available and very simple to work on. Like all things in life, all it takes is money.
And to answer your first question of whether or not you should save the car or not, the answer should always be "Yes!". All Camaro's should be saved from the crusher. If you have the money and time to invest then go for it. Having said that, don't look to make a profit from the restoration of EITHER cars. To rebuild and enjoy? Always.
One last note to all members: I just joined yesterday (11/30/04) so I am a 41 year old "Newbie". However, I am no stranger to Camaro's and there is no lack of interest in them, either. I've only been back in the U.S. from Germany since '00 but I am an info nut. I love researching car info and wrenching. In March '01 while riding with a co-worker (in a City vehicle) I saw just the roof of a green '67 or '68 Camaro behind a house. The following Saturday I drove back out and knocked on the door. A young, lanky (and VERY un-interested) kid opened up. "No, it's not for sale, my sister's supposed to get it but my dad's pissed at her right now." And he closed the door. I peeked around the house in the tall weeds and saw it was a metallic green '68! Last month, after 3 1/2 years, I was in that area and drove by again. That same '68 Camaro was still there! Just a little closer to the house and partially covered. But wait. In the back, along with other rusting trucks and cars was also a '67 Camaro! Five times I have been there since and no one answers. Personally, I do not have the time or resources right now to save these two gems but God knows I could find them new homes. Unfortunitely, this happens everyday. Someone hoards cars and lets them rot instead of letting them go to someone that REALLY cares. I refuse to give up, though. I will find as many 1st gen lovers as I can and give them the address. Eventually, they will have to give in and some lucky person will be happy.

There's just some people that won't sell, as Tacoma Man mentioned before. There's a guy that my dad knows, he lives about 4 minutes away from my house, he buys all the muscle cars he finds, and lets them rot in his yard. He has like 10 Chevelles, and about as many El Caminos in the two yards he hold them in.

I'm hoping he doesn't die for a while, I'd like to be out of college, and buy them dirt cheap from his wife.
