I went to change my PCV valve today and the one in the head is threaded, whereas the one I bought at advance is not threaded. I purchased my Taco 5 months ago and figured I would do a little preventative maintenance because I don't know the truck's history. Every online parts store I have found only sells the non threaded valves. whats up with this? Also, is it easier to get at the fuel filter from above or below. It seems like its going to be a pain in the ass regardless being tucked up under the manifold like it is, but i just want to save some aggravation. thanks for any input.

tacoma man.

I remember doing my fuel filter in my 93 4cyl and it was a real pain I went under my right wheel well took off my tire to get to it and i could only get one bolt on the new filter the mechanic at the base auto hobby shop said that unless you notice a fuel delivery problem the filter is something you don't have to replace, He said that the way the filter works is the more junk that get's into it the better it filters until it finaly clogs up all the way and starves the engine which rarely happens unless you live somewhere that there is a lot of high dust or you get gas from an old mom and pops back woods gas station.

I had a 1998 2.4L and remember that I was confused when I went to change my PCV valve as well. I went back into the NAPA store and told the salesman that he gave me the wrong part because mine was threaded. He came out to the parking lot and showed me where the PCV valve was. It was hidden by hoses and wires but it was to the rear. The threaded one is for something else.
Look at the Emissions diagram sticker under the hood. It shows schematically where the PCV valve is located, then you can track it down by starting at a component you're sure of and following the hoses.
