92 f150

I have a 92 f-150, 302, auto, king-cab long bed with dual fuel tanks. And it has a problem, when you go out and start it and let it idle it will flood and die. After it has warmed up then you try and start it it will not start unless you put the gas pedal to the floor, after it starts it runs like crap, the idle will surge. Anyone know whats wrong?

is your check engine light on? if not check your air filter and vacuum line going to the map sensor.

the check engine light isnt on but who knows it may be unhooked. the air filter was all black and gumming looking, put distrubor cap and rotor on it, still does the same thing, putting plugs in it tomorrow. and will check that line to

where is the map sensor?

map sensor is on the pass. side beside the heater box. Have you tried running it with the hose off the airfilter?

going to put the plugs in tomorrow, and check the map sensor. no we havnt tried running it with the hose off the airfilter, because now it will not start.

ok got it running, but now its running rich. anyone know whats could be wrong?

sounds like the tps(throttle positioning sensor)is going bad. sometimes this is an intermitent problem. runs about 35 bucks. good luck and hope this helps

Idle Air Control. Clean or replace it.
