GMC and GM has got lots of names for their cars in the States, but like a third of them is called the same thing here in Europe...

I don't know the name. I didn't even know that they sold them outside of the US. Sorry, but don't know the name outside US.

If it has a 454 SS on the side, thats the model. The 454 SS was a limited edition(kind of) to go up against the Ford Lightning(not the newer Lightning).

It's a Chevrolet 454SS Sport Truck. They were made 1990-1993.

They only came in black. If you want a faster more driveable truck for about the same price, try finding an early 90's GMC Syclone or Typhoon, they had a turbocharged 4.3 v-6 (carryover from the grandnational project by buick) and all wheel drive. FAST!

Not exactly "carry-over" since the Grand National/GNX's engine was a (Buick-based) 3.8L and the Syclone/Typhoon used a completely different (Chevrolet-based) 4.3L V6.

You are absolutely right, although all of the technology and information GM learned was carried over, based on different engines of course

Yes, the 4.3 chevy is basically a 350 that had 2 cylinders removed, they share the same bore size/spacing and have the same stroke, meanwhile the 231 buick was a pretty good average v-6 until gm powertrain specialists breathed on it with a garrett turbo making it one of the most awesome engines evermade even in moderndays( can you believe that the last grand national rolled off the assembly line more than 13 years ago?)

Yea I have one of those 231s in my 79 malibu. It only made 413hp and 525 ftlbs to the wheels. Not to bad for a mostly stock motor. A cam and some boltons will do wonders on a gn.That was with a 400 turbo and 308 gears.I have changed the trany back too the 200r4 in hopes of a low 11 sec. et on radils.

In certain years you could get them in White and Red also. Can't remember which years though. :)
