now this is a sub!

i was looking around at subs and found this http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14003 i was wondering why nobody has said anything about this monster, has anybody heard it? i am flabergasted (for lack of a better word) it looks like 2 of these would tear my 240sx apart, what size box would i need?

well, probly because its an spl subwoofer

You can find those in cheap audio magazines for half the price

if u think thats a monster check out the solox by kicker

I would take an Audiobahn Immortal 15 in. or 18 in. quad voice coil over that

1 DD9917 would be louder than 2 of thoes...
that is a pure SPL woofer.

hifonics doesnt make very good woofers.

woofers that are better, SPL wise.

Adire Audio Parthenon....

though it isnt an actual production woofer. it is actually just a motor that Adire will attach to w/e cone and suspension set up you want.

the motor will move something liek 2.7inches one way with 9v DC.... thats more than most motors will with 100v

the motor alone with a 24" square baffle unit produced 121dB at 20Hz with no baffle, no enclosure...completely free air free to cancelation etc. etc.

cost? well motor alone is 3,000. after doing all your add ons... 5,000-8,000 for the actual driver.

largest baffle pannel reccomended is 48''x48''...at full excursion it displaces 16cubic feet of linear air...thats massive...

if anyone in here has say 5,000 lying around im sure most of the regulars in the board would be happy to send maybe 20 bucks each in donations to get the best woofer you possibly can...as long as you promise to take pics and visit each of our home towns...

Seems like there's more DD haters than lovers??

i'm sure there are about equal amount of people who prefer DD over RE and visey versy

not nesicarily prefer DD. its just a DD3515 cost less than a XXX or brahma 15. and though SQ isnt as good, but IMO fine and dandy, they make great SPL for their price, a hell of alot better than audiobahn Alum's, Kicker comp VR's, Kicker L5's, and many many other common sapposed top of the line woofers...
