so I think I've run into a problem... a big one...
for the last week my car has been hard to start when its cold, I've had to crank it probably 10-20 times each time I start it. Now the last few days its been throwing out some white smoke for about 20-30 seconds each time I start it... looks to be a bad coolant seal... unfortunately I don't have near enough money for a rebuild or a new car... I am gonna have to see about getting a loan and then either find a new car or get a rebuild... not sure whats gonna happen with this, wish me luck

i have an s5 housing sitting in my bedroom, its a bit scratched but im sure its still useable, it was on the front side of my engine, the side that did not blew.
i say get a compression test, if the engines blown, get it out and open it to see what are the damage, then start to cry or not, a set of apex seals and o rings cost in the 500$ ish, if all you need is an housing, then the rebuilt should cost you in the 650$ range, wich is not that much..

well I just e-mailed kevin landers and got a reply, its about 1300 bucks for a rebuild and street port if I send in my engine on a pallet, if I take the car and have him to the labor its 1900... so if I can find a garage and get something to pull the engine with then I might be in business... if not then I might have to front some extra money...
I'll probably see if I can't get some kind of loan from the bank... I also might just try to find another 7 with a rebuilt streetported engine already
who knows, obviously you can tell I'm not sure whats gonna happen, when I figure it out I'll let you know

you cant take an engine out of your car yourself ? identify the wire correctly, have a friend or two drink beer with you and you're in business

it can takes 5 hours if you realy take your time, identifying every wire to connect it back.
rent an engine lift, do it in the street. hahaha
did it in the grass of my backyard

I pulled the engine out of my old 7 with a 4x4 and a buddy. I first got in the engine bay pulled the engine out as far as I could with a chain then we put the 4x4 under it and lifted it right out. I wouldn't suggest doing it that way but I didn't have acces to a boom poll for our tractor at the time so I did it that way and it wasn't fun. Only took a couple hours to pull everything including the engine since I had pulled most of the engine apart several times before.
And for future referance the injector harness can be hooked into the coolent sensor (I know this because I hooked mine there in a hurry) but there are guide pins on the back of the injectors that are suppose to keep that from happening but they can wear down. I think the rear and front injector harness are different and only plug to the correct injector.

I can't afford that man, I make 5.50 an hour, I work part time, and I am in school
but anyways the shop is telling me that the MAP is jacked up and so is the TPS and that the smoke might be coming from some kind of oil/fuel mixture which I think is total BS because I've never seen oil or fuel burn any colors other than black/grey/blue
so I went to pick it up and it is dead, although is was fine when I took it there, they said I would need a new battery but didn't happen to tell me it was dead... so we jumped it and I drove it a block, stopped at a light and everything totally turned off, jumped it again, died 5 seconds after we took off the cables... so we pushed it into a parking lot and it will probably be towed since tommorrow is thanksgiving and there is nowhere to buy a battery at, if thats even the only problem... not to mention I have no car to get to work on friday now because who knows if it will work once the battery is replaced... at this point I wish I could just sell it cheap and buy a new car but of course I can't afford it so who knows what is gonna happen now
