That is one huge bust. Sucks to have it broken up like that. But yet they asked for it when they all decided to get together with so many cars. Well, it sucks all in all. But the cops are doing their job, and they seemed to do a pretty good job of it. Late...

:cwm27: What a waste of time and tax money. 28 people busted and 10 tickets issued out of 400  Imp surprised they even reported this i would think its an embarrassment to police. I mean why is the Gang Strike Force wasting time on street racing when they could be doing some many other worth while things. I mean come on at least the races our taking place on a "dead-end stretch". I love the way our country works.

Wow...400 cars at once. Suprised nobody noticed like 400 cars heading in the same direction. It would suck to be them though.

"It's the thread that ties everything together." St. Paul Police Officer Gary Rivet says street racing and stolen parts go together, like mechanics and grease
Does anyone here know people who race with lots of stolen engines and crap?
Sown the block, St. Paul Police have blocked the escape
Should we believe a news group that can't spell down?

a while back there was a similar bust here in AZ, but i think it was only like 200 or something...but in that one all the cars either got impounded, the drivers got a ticket or taken to jail + both a ticket and impounded car. kinda stupid, meanwhile the drug dealers and rapists are roaming the streets. heh

I get the feeling that there's going to be a lot of accusing of stealing engines when the vins on some of those engines dont come back the same as on the car...

WTF. I'm glad we have our good knowledgable friends at fox to clear things up for us. Like Thourun said, they are full of shit. Just like all of the media. And after all that, no stolen parts.lol They're dangerous all right. After having the cops come and arrest 28 people, well that means 372 people got away with no wrecks and no injuries. You know if there was a wreck or an injury they would report it. Sounds pretty dangerous. Sounds like some media bullshit to convert your average Joe into a hater of the performance and racing aspect of automobiles. Well, racing improves the breed.

small bust.. just wasting everyones time..
we used to get huge busts here 600+ cars.. even at the sideshows they'd impound 100+ cars and arrest over 50 people ticket a shitload of people etc but we have more then just street races here.. such as the Sydeshowz

LOL I didn’t think about that. That would suck to have your brand new RB, SR, or 350, yanked by the Po Po. Redneck or anybody who has or knows about buying used engines, what kind of "proof of purchase" did you get when you bought your motor?

I would assume that unless the VIN comes up stolen they can't book you for not having matching numbers. Wouldent hurt to have a bill of sale in the glove box though.

don't the po pos have better shit to do than pick on street racers instead of like 90redgt said the drugdealers and rapists are roaming free. thats a load of bullshit. while people are dealing dugs and raping people they are worried about people racing. Far more people are affected by dealing drugs and rape than vehicular manslaughter.

Nah dude, they're prolly just trying to get in a few last races b4 the snow hits, cuz when it does, they'd be damn fools to race.

What I don't understand is don't the cops have better things to do? As some of you said, the REAL criminals are roaming free. At least us people between 18 - 35 or so have something better to do than knocking off stores or robbing people. We at least do something with our lives for a hobby we love....how is that bad?
If most of the parts were stolen, or people were dealing drugs, or there rapists among the lot, ya I can see a huge bust...but if no one is getting hurt, its in a safe and enclosed environment...what the fuck is the big deal? Honestly....ya, people probably don't have helmets or fire gear, but at least there is enough people there to do something in case someone did get hurt.....what the hell.....

Around the MN/Wisconsin area, the Twin Cities is kind of the mecca of the streets. Sure all our good sized cities have racing scenes, but if you want to see some serious street action, you know you have to head 90/94 to St.Paul. Last summer there was a similar bust in Minneapolis involving a helicopter chasing cars as well...*shakes head*

all i can say is the city officials dont care about murderers and rapists for one simple reason. THEY DON'T MAKE MONEY OFF OF THEM. street racers are easier to catch and the impound fee's and tickets bring in way more money than any killer, rapist, and drug dealer ever will.

Guys, I can understand all your opinions about street racing...but saying that cops don't care about drug dealers or rapists...simply because they did their job and pulled over 400+ street racers...I mean come on that just sounds ignorant.
You all know the law...it isn't a surprise. You are doing something illegal...you have 400+ people spectating...what do you think will happen?
The cops busted so many because there were so many there...a rapist doesn't have 399 spectators watching him do the deed. Drug dealers typically don't want tons of attention either. Yes the cops want to stop them...but catching street racers is easy, and they have pressure from the public (families of innocent victims, parents of stupid 16 year olds, etc) to put an end to street racing.
Yes I street race, and yes I understand all sides of the story. But guys...be a little more realistic about the situation, cops on average...especially in big cities, have plenty of stuff to do...this is just another thing that they are pressured into dealing with. What the hell do you guys expect?

probably a highly exaggerated number from an extremely stupid person.
actually it happened during the middle of september, i was there that night when it happened, and there were definately MORE than 400 cars, the cops and reporters staked out in the warehouses, that night for over 4hrs until a crowd that size showed up, the reason so many people were there is that the cops let us be there for 3-4 weeks we would go and only have a few light break-ups where everyone would come back in 30 mins anyway, also there was racing until 4am the weekend before it happened, anyway, the parking lot was full of imports, i dont know if it had anything to do with it but all the musclecars left about 30 mins before it happened (i think they were tipped off, cause the cops seem to favor them here, and many a night you can see a grip of cops chilling at Porky's right down UNI, i was there with a group of about 40 people in about 25 cars, only one of which got towed (a 12 sec. talon tsi) the driver of which would have been arrested had not my buddy jumped in the drivers seat and taken a 250 dollar reckless driving ticket for him, i did not recieve a ticket nor did any other of the people i was with, i dont know how many of you are from MN but if you saw the report on the news, right as the guy is near the beginning of the line speaking look over his left should (to the right since you are looking at him) and you will see my truck its a 2001 dodge ram V8 with a brushgaurd and topper (i didnt have my probe in working order at that time)(its pretty much the only car above head height, with all the lowered civics there) the people caught racing got tickets and were forced to get out of thier car sit in front (or rear) and take a picture with them and thier licence plate, it was pretty much a waste cause all the paper work they have isnt gonna help them, cause its just a waste of space. so long story short it was a large bust and people did get jacked, one asian kid got the crap kicked outta him cause he wouldnt turn off his car. The sad part is that some people that didnt even race got jacked, a Rx-7 fd got towed, cause they "had them on tape" even though i know they didnt race, the cops there were laughing and making fun of the people who were being arrested.
well for being my first post this sure was a long one, lol

well there were alot more, but that was just the front parking lot about 1000 down the road (near the starting line) most of the older people hang out, and they had a separate line for those guys also (not shown in the vid) i know street racing is "illegal" but a vast majority of the time we arent even racing, theres a few spost along UNI where people just come to chill talk about cars and hang with friends yet we get kicked out of the parking lots (that are in plain sight where they could , if wanted keep an eye on us) and we are forced into warehouse districts, yes there is racing almost everynight, but alot of people just enjoy the car scene with that many people around

Your all missing the big point. 400 cars, thats alot of cars, figure two heads per car and that 800 people......thats alot of f'ing kids! I rather my kid be out doing shit like that then some of the other alternatives. while I was growing up there wassnt as big a focus on the car culture as there is now. I remember all the 16 and 17 year olds where out getting into gangs cause that was the in thing to do. The pop culture was one that would end you up dead or in jail with dead relatives. in 1992 three people where shot and killed in fron of my apparment building and that was not a bad part of town, gangs where everywhere. look at all the popular movies from the mid and early 1990's. Why are there so many movies about highschool gangs and teen murders? well cause thats what the nation knew at the time. the alternative to the car culture for youths is drugs, stealing, gangs, turf wars, racism, vandalizing. shit if you think about it all this recent car phenomena has saved alot of young people from alot worst fates. Working your ass off and slaving at BK to make some money for your engine swap? bullshit, you never heard of such a thing 10 years ago in the big cities. crimes still happen and cars will always be stollen and stripped but the fact is that in the last 6 years teen crimes are down by 64 % and if we keep it up we will put juvenille halls out of business by the end of the decade. Sorry to rant on but I just compare street racing to what else we could be doing and I hope to high heaven my kids like cars as much as I do!

Took the words right out of my mouth. Seriously guys, you need to get over this whole 'I hate the cops, they suck' mentality. Guess what, street racing, speeding, all of that is illegal, and what do the police do? They stop people (or at least try) from doing illegal things.
You cant just stop a rapist or a drug dealer, those aren't things that people do in the open. Its alot harder to find those people than it is street racers. So stop bashing the cops, and start bashing the idiots for gathering 400 people in one spot.

ah hell there right. I retract my previous statment. it is illegal. If it wasn't I probably would'nt do it. There are too many ricers out there as it is. legalizing it wouldn't keep every 16 year old kid with a licence and 0 driving skill from slaming into me during a race.

Fact is kids need something illegal to give them a rush, counterculture is inherent to youth and different generations have different countercultures.
