timing or cpi?

i have a 95 blazer with the CPI motor code w v6 4.3liter. i had been looking at it and i could smell gas in the intake. so i pulled the intake to see how bad it was but the entire intake top and bottom looked like a golden color. there was also some oil around the EGR port but i haven't been burning oil from what i can tell. i race the truck about once a week and i run cleaner about once a month. what i want to know is that when i had pulled the upper intake off i noticed that the distributer was loose and that one of the screws seem striped out and the other one looked like it might be the same way. i get about 200 miles to 18 gallens of gas and most is city. can anybody tell me weather it is the cpi or is the cap to blame. the truck has a slight miss at idel and the plugs and wires have only about 500 miles on them. i did a complete tune up then. plugs, wires, fuel filter, trans flush. does anybody have any idea?

The CPI injector.

As I have stated to you SEVERAL times, you CANNOT adjust your timing on a 1995.

Didn't we already talk about this and you kept on asking the same questions over and over again about the CPI.

How about you replace the injector and nut kit and stop constantly asking about it.

I am sorry about being abrupt with you, but you seem to rather thick headed and will ignore people's advice and just keep on with the same question OVER and OVER and OVER again.

REPAIR IT!!!

i wanted to know if the cap would affect anything and what should i do about it. i know cpi shot and its getting worse. i loose about 20 miles every tank. weather i race the truck or drive it soft i stll loose the gas. must be the cpi. what part on the cpi would cause the entire intake to look gold. from the pics that i've seen only part of it is gold. or is it gold from racing. i know i need to change the cpi and i will. its ging to cost $270 just for the cpi and $60 for the nut kit. going to change it in about a month.

First of all, STOP RACING IT!

Your engine is flooding itself and all you are doing is diluting the engine oil with unburnt fuel.

So another month until you are going to repair it? Did you say that over a month ago already?

I mean seriously, stop racing around with a known problem that can ruin your engine, save gas money and go fix it.

Common sense bro, you need to grow up a bit a realize the damage you are doing to your truck.

Can you tell me why people race blazers and jimmys? I have one of each, but consider them family transportion. What type of racing? Not being smart, just wondering.

I truly think it's about time to replace your injector spider.

I know, this is where I draw the line.

All the information he requires is in that LONG thread he was in before. I explained everything to him and he still delays and delays etc.....

It is like this:

Him: How do I fix the CPI?
Me: He is how you fix it..
Him: But, how do I fix the CPI?

GAH!!!

Anyone racing a 4x4 just needs to grow up.

I like the other threads where he asks what performance parts he should ask his parents for for Christmas, while totally disregarding the fact that his car is probably running like crap and that more than just a few parts needs to be replaced.

Yes your CPI nut kit need to be replaced. But if you have the top post mount HEI distributor (vs side post mount) you can adjust it. It would be 0 TDC. If it's a side post mount distributor, you can't , it's a locked system. But mainly you need to replace that CPI and Nutkit
