Got ripped by a 240Z

Last weekend was my bad weekend if you ever have one. I went from #1 fastest street legal "Z" to 3rd [email protected] just didn't cut it. Guess I need more boost and a tad bit more nitrous. :evillol:

Wow, I just didn't know there was so many fast cars out there. I'll take you advice and run down and get some gas and burn it right now. Don't want to be seen driving that kinda crap to work anymore. Thank you all for pointing out this to me.

It's your launch. Look at your traps compared to the two above you. You have the power to pass them...

Just go watch the Fast and the Furious, get some tips from those guys. You, tune the NOS timers, and what not...Then for sure you'll be number one. And like everyone here said, don't come back until you do. Still, 10. My civic will give you a run for you money... J/K. LOL. That's damn fast, I love Z's. I'll own one day. Yes I Will. Late...

My launch? I'm running street tires and the #1 is using slicks. As long as I keep it hooked up I'm OK, but at the lights it's hard not to go up in smoke. I think if I could find some sticker tires I'd get into the 9's with alittle more boost or juice. I have a Pro Import 300Z, but it's not a everyday driver so it don't count, that runs in the mid 7's (retired). Now were building a new car powered with a VH45DE DOHC V8 that should get me into the mid to low 6's.

Hehe my step grandmother use to drive her husbands high 10 sec nova wagon that had set a world record back in the early 70s. Just had to throw that one in sorry. :naughty:

Ah, a Q45 motor. Have you guys determined that it'll fit? That's a wide motor, even wider than the Ford 5.0's, and the stock VG's are almost have to be shoehorned in there.

Also, I was suspecting you were running streets. Try 'em with even DR's - I'm curious to see what you'll get.

The VH45DE engine is the same width as the VG30DETT only 4 1/2" longer and 100lbs lighter. The engine has been the car for fitting many times and no problem, in fact a couple have been installed in 240Z's.
I figure at my age it might be my reaction time and not my launches. I'm just not as quick as I use to be 40 years ago.
And your right, some DR's would help, but then I wouldn't be street legal.

Your answer is kinda right in a perfect world, but when were talking about humans and machines. I've beaten guys with faster RT than me by just out powering them and have lost the same way.
When both cars are staged the first car to move starts the clock. If you have a slow RT at the lights you'll have a higher ET, unless you makeup the time you lost in RT. I want to get a sensor that is color sensitive and use it to launch on the green. Illegal I think. but it would be nice. Never looked into it.

Just some Japaneese trash they wanted to get rid of and I took them in like a stray dog and put them to good use. They don't eat much, hardly ever bark, never complain, but the damn things leave long black strips on the pavement if I push them hard.
