Must we use the legal system with this one? Can't we just put a damn bullet in his head on the spot? Better yet, shoot him in non-vital places the same number of times he shot the other people, then put a bullet in his head. I live in Wisconsin, and never heard that. My dad didn't take me out to shoot people.

No, i don't believe he was defending him self, he sat in that tree and picked people off from 200 feet or more, thats not self defense

If it matters, I'm 6th award expert on a Marine Corps rifle range and placed 4th out of 275 marines at the 500 yard line. No scope, just hard sights on an M16A2 service rifle.

especially when 20 ROUNDS were fired. Geez, that guy sucks at shooting...

one of the guys that is in the hospital i know... friend of the family. luckly he is in stable condition and will make a full recovery but its fuckin sad that this has to come to shooting someone over a fuckin tree stand. out of the 8 years i have hunted i have not once had a problem with anyone and now all of a sudden this year there are people trespassing on our land, shooting people, and even poaching dear more then there ever has in the past. what is with stupid people today!

The guy got out of the stand. Then took his scope off, turned and started to shoot the people. Only one person in the whole hunting party (of all the people who got shot) even had a hunting rifle. I don't know if Wisconsin has the death penalty, but this guy is a perfect recipient for it :angryfire

ill tell ya though. it scared the shit out of me when i heard about it at first because i didnt know if it was just some psycho running around the woods sniping people off for no reason like that one guy last year in D.C. or wherever it was. and i wasnt hunting too far from where this happened.

I have never been so scared in my entire life after this. Where we hunt is only about 10 miles away from where this happened... and I could hear the gun fire... so after I got out of my stand and went back to the cabin, the radio was on and telling people about what had happened... I was freaking out because at the time they said the guy wasnt caught and then the next day I was afraid to go out because he could have his sights set on me...

While I think that that lunatic is most likely going to rot in prison, or be executed (not sure about WI state law.) The vigilante angle is too far out in left field. While he may be a criminal, he is still entitled to a trial and an opportunity to present his case. It's ver easy to say, just shoot the bastard, it ultimately short circuits our justice system. If we started allowing that sort of behavior, it cheapens our entire legal process.


One last thought, what kind of jackass hunts with an SKS? Probably using soviet surplus FMJ ammunition too... Maybe he should be shot.

But there are ways around that, it happened a couple weeks ago here in IA, no death penalty here but somehow they got this guy a death sentence, i think something about it being a federal case or something, so theres still a good chance he'll die

Although i think it would be pretty easy to plead insanity when you do something like this

He killed now 6 people. I would rather see him rot in a prision for the rest of his life. I wouldn't get anything out of seeing him dead, because his death wouldn't bring back those people.

Anyway,

Now they guy was saying that he was defending him self, that they hunters were useing racal surs, which i could believe, however, the way it went down, and his story...its just not believe able.

He said that after he shot the first 2, that two people came on an ATV and he shot them off the ATV.. little later he said that as he was running though the woods, he dumped the rest of his ammo in a swamp. That just sounds so insane. But really, its the only thing he can use as a defense if you think about it.
