Ford Scorpio 5.0 Swap

I'm wondering how difficult it would be to cram a 5.0 Engine out of a Ford Mustang into a Scorpio. I know that the engine will fit without much modification to the engine compartment, but the biggest problem will be the wiring harness. I know there are a few people on the internet that made harness kits for the Ford Sierra to put a 5.0 in it, but does someone know how to do it in a Scorpio?

i've never even heard of a scorpio... but Painless performance sells a wiring harness kit for a 5.0/5.8 EFI motor that will hook right up and work with a computer you buy from Ford. then all you have to do is route the wiring neatly in your engine compartment.
as for engine transplants, anything can be done by somebody who has the correct resources.

Just looking at the car it would be a lot of work and fabrication. You're better off buying a Fox body 5.0.

Nah, this would be a much better project simply for sleeper value! :naughty:
Everybody has a Fox 5.0, but how many people would expect it from a Scorpio?
And I'm currently chatting with a guy that knows where to get a complete swap kit, so it won't be that bad....

actually look into if a 2.3t from a nother merkur will fit, i believe the merkur and the ford 2.3t (turbo coupes and svo) are the same motor. that would be a great swap

Go carb, wiring isn't nearly as much hassle. It's not like the thing would be very street legal anyway....

Actually, I checked with my local DMV, and it would be totally street legal. We don't have emissions testing here.
As far as going carb, that's probably not a bad idea.... It would make wiring up the engine as simple as hooking up the sensors for the idiot lights.

Yes, the 2.3t is the same that's in cars like the T-Bird Turbo Coupe, but I'm in Germany, the scorpio here is doesn't even come with a 2.3i.. It comes with either a 2.0 16v engine or a 2.8 V6.
I'm not looking for the easiest route, as this would probably be it. I'm looking for a pure, "what the hell do you have in that thing!?" reaction.
I have the time and the patience to do it, so I'm opting for the 5.0 swap... Just because i doesn't happen very often...

I saw a couple with 2.9's in them over there, too, so maybe you could use motor swap mounts similar to those designed for a Ranger 302 swap?
