sohc swap

ok i was wondering about this, i have a d15b7 in my civic and its pretty up there in mileage, i was wondering what it would take to get this engine swapped with say a d16y8. i just wonder about the motor mounts mostly. i want to know if i can just drop this in or if i am going to have to buy some mounts to swap this engine in. also i want to know what difficulties i am looking at doing ths swap. i dont have the money for b16 or b18c but i know from my last 2 ex's that the d16y8 is the way to go for sohc. thanks for the help:jump3:

The EX 5th gen D-series motor was the D16Z6, it's an OBD-I motor. You're 5th gen hatch is OBD-I also. You won't need new mounts, it'll bolt right it. You'll need the D-series Vtec motor and the OBD-I sohc vtec ECU. As I said, any 92-95 EX or SI hatch has the D16Z6, and they are OBD-I. If you opt to use the Y8, you'd most likely want to try and use the Z6 ecu if you can, as wiring up a OBD-IIa ecu to your OBD-I car is a headache. All D-series trannys are interchangable, so you shouldn't need a new one unless you want one. If you have an auto tranny, make sure to use an auto ecu, if you have a manual tranny, make sure to use a manual ecu.

ok i see that the mini me swap is also an option but i am unsure of the advantages and disadvantages of it. i see all kinds of stuff to do it and everything on ebay. my questions are how hard is this swap? if i did this swap would i be ordering parts for a d16 or for a d15b7 like i already have. i dont mean to sound stupid about this but i need to explore everything cause my car is up there in mileage and i want to see if it would just be easier to swap the engine rather than attempt the mini me swap. another question i know obd1 and obd 2 has something to do with exhaust cause they are anal here in n.c. over this stuff. what are the differences in the 2. thanks dude

JDM D15B VTEC seems pretty good. At first when I got it, I was disappointed, since my old engine was a PH16 (local 1600 non-VTEC one here in the Philipines). But after reading up on it, I found it to be good. Maybe I just convinced myself it's good, hehe! But it should do fine for you as well.
