What does Throttlebody Bypass do?

I have seen many posts about the free mod Throttlebody Bypass. Ive looked up how to do it its symple but no where have i seen what it does.

So my question What does a Throttlebody Bypass do to a firebird?

It bypasses warm coolant from heating up the throttle body. The coolant heats the TB which in turns heats the air and as we all know cooler air burns quicker and generates more power.

is there any negitive effects of doing this to the engine. Doesnt the TB need coolent?

The throttle body does not need coolant. The reason GM had coolant running through it is because they were paranoid about the throttle body fins icing up in cold weather (like below 0), which is highly unlikely to happen. To answer your question, no there are no negative effects to doing this mod and you stand to gain a few horse power, ws6.com saw a 6.3 horsepower and 7.1 ft/lbs torque gain to the wheels from doing it and the overall temp of the throttle body decreased from 102F to 82F.

The warmer air also breaks the fuel down into finer particles.Much less of a chance for oil dampening or dillution.The car will not perform as consistantly
with the warmer removed,if you live in a climate wich has rapid major changes in weather.
