yo all, i'm thinking about getting a Fiero, but people are telling me this car have a "prob". I think they said the transmision break easily, is that true? or if not the transmision, it's something else, but is that true anyway :p?

I got only bad feedback about this car, so just wondering if what people said is true

thx

there is nothing wrong with fieros...the tranmissions are good espically the geartag 5 speed...

It always puzzles me where these opinions come from. The drivetrain is essentially the same thing that's in thousands of Cavaliers and Sunbirds on the road, so why would it be any different?
Midnight mentioned the Getrag tranny specifically, but I have heard VERY few people having transmission problems with these cars. Sure, there are a few clutch problems, but that's mostly because something is not done properly. I bought my daily-driver 4-banger, 5-spd Fiero with 80,000 miles on it, and it will turn 185,000 next week. I have had no trouble other than normal wear items. How many cars can you say that about? Of course, my cars receives proper care and maintenance . . .

I must agree. Fiero is actually a pretty tough car. There's lots of myth and superstition surrounding it.

I just purchased a 87 4 banger automatic for 1,000 bucks and it only has 52,000 miles on it!!!!!! I pick it up tomorrow and I am very excited to drive it. I had a 91 integra before this one and it was all tricked out so im looking foreward to something different. People have told me that fieros break dowm all the time too but I figure 50,000 miles it cant be that bad.

I have an 86 2m6 with 180,000 and still running strong, and my favorite 87 gt with 70,000...I wouldnt trade either of them for anytthing

so yeah i just changed the oil and i was scared that i blew a head gasket, cuz the oil was all milky, but it runs great so im like "psh" and filled er up and ran it and the oil is fine now, it was sitting for like a year. my '86 GT has 146k miles on it and it runs well, aside from a slight electrical problem, and the speedo doesnt work too good. i put it through its paces today and it was beggin for more!

PS sorry to hijack the thread =p
