Intake noise

Hey all...I've had a whine coming from my engine bay for a while now. It's very aparent when it's cold and at low RPM...when the intake draws a lot of vacuum. I always thought it was like a high pitch whistle...well, today I spent hours with the car running, puring cups of water everywhere trying to find where the leak it. I finally found it by accident when my hand slipped and it went in the depression in the side of the intake manifold, on the passenger side by the power steering pump. Apparently, there is a leak or something in there. I also think the lean fuel/air is leading to fouled plugs, which I've had issues with twice in the last 6 months.
Anyways...has anyone ever tried to put any type of epoxy on a cracked/leaking plastic manifold? I'm thinking of giving it a shot instead of buying a new one. Also, I can't get a good view of that part of the intake where the leak is....does anyone know if there is anything functional there or just intake housing?
Thanks for any responses or advice...

Hmmm, I`ve never heard of lean fouling plugs, thats usually only rich, or oil burning. I believe only an overabundance of a substance can "foul" a plug. You might have some other issue as far as thats concerned.
As for the leak, J B Weld should do fine, just let it dry long enough.

Hi if your car is 95 or 96 it has a map sensor and if you have a vac leak it will make it run very rich. Should also set a engine code. (check engine light)

There is a "pressure relief" valve in the location you speak of. I have replaced many of these to correct a vac leak/whistle...

Have you checked the intake manifold bolts? they are bad about working loose...........

I second that. The intake bolts commonly come loose on these cars. Try just tightening them down first.
