Now remember when reading this, that I am still fairly new to racing, so excuse my mistakes.
Ok so I met up with my buddy last night after work, and he had a couple people with him. One of them is a driver of a 5.0 mustang. Nice ride, met him and hung out before really cool guy. He recently went to the track, and he ran a 14.2, not bad for having only minor modifications. My freind tried to set us up to race right after I got the car, but we called it off because I wasnt very familiar with my car yet. So we decided we would do it last night.
He drove me out to this strip that is in the middle of this run-down like industrial zone, the strip we ran was probally a bigger then a 1/4 cause I was above 110mph every run, and I think my car traps at like 98 stock. For our first run, I was very nervous, because a 14.2 is what professional drivers have done with my car stock, So i wasnt sure If i could hold. We line up, and getting alil flashy, he goes in reverse, does a sick burnout, and rolls up. My freind was in the middle counting. We hit the 3 count and both launch. He got about 1/2 ahead of me due to extreme wheelspin on my part :(, We stay even until I, in my nervousness, bounch off the rev limiter in 2nd. Big bummer. Round 1: His car...
He says lets go again, so we line up the same way. This time I was going to be a bit more conservative with my launch. Unfortunatly, he had a nearly perfect launch, tire chirp and pull. My launch was good, but didnt compare, however by the end of race, he had about .5-1 car legnths on me. At that point it felt like I was pulling him, but he stopped because we were getting near the end of this strip, and didnt want to attract attention. Round 2: His car...
Now for round 3: Im starting to get used to launching my car right, and it really worked out for me this time. 3 count and were off, and I pulled about .5 car legnths on him immediatly, we keep going down, and by the end of the race I had 1-1.5 legnths. Finally Round 3: My car... :)
Im not sure what exactly his mods are, but I know for certain it was a 14.2 second car. My car is stock except for a K&N filter and flowmaster mufflers (both done by previous owner).
Cliff Notes:
(Would rather you read it all but w/e)
I race a freind with a 5.0 (14.2 1320)
Round 1: I get lots of wheel spin, and hit rev limiter, he wins...
Round 2: He gets a perfect launch, and I barely keep up with him...
Round 3: I get my best launch yet, and win the race...

Nice win. Losing usually helps you to become better anyway. Especially when you race someone who is better than you are. It kinda helps gauge yourself, and then you can stride to become better than the next person. nice job coming out with the win in the end. Late...

Actually you guys are right, these were my first loses, and that was because it was with a car that is as fast as my car. So instead of thinking about me having more power, I actually had to concentrate on the perfect launch and fast shifting, and think with that I actually improved.

Sounded like fun. Close races like that are fun to watch, and even more fun to be a part of.
