chips and limiters

i want my car to go faster than 108 i am thinking about a chip is there a better alternative to the chip?

NEWBIE!!!!....... There are other ways, but there is no need for you to be going that fast. The People running 12 sec 1/4 miles aren't even hittin the rev limiter..So unless you can prove you are gettin that high in the traps you don't need to know, and if you are gettin that high should already know how to... J bodies aren't designed brake and suspension wise to go that fast...

lol if u wanna know how to remove a limiter do a search because i think all anyone is gonna do is yell at you, but i do agree no one needs to go that fast... ever... thats how people get killed... be like a bomb on wheels :slap:

damn guys get off his balls, he didnt ask how to remove the limiter he just asked if chipping was the best way. And yes it is the best way. This way your car stays legal and you dont lose your instrument guages.

first of all i know that the brakes arent good enough for those speeds i have already cracked my rotors as far as suspension goes its doing fine i dont float at all second of all i never said that i drive that fast on the street and i am also not running the 1/4 mile i would like to get into the streetstyle raceing i know i dont need to go that fast for that either but i also know that some trackes have long straight aways where i will hit the limiter and it is also a manor of bragging rights. As far as brakes go i am doing a rear disc convertion and i am also doing the big brake upgrade. the other reason i was asking is because i heard that the chip had no effect on some people on the jbody forums. thanks for the help i will worry about how fast i drive and how well my car stops.

What kind of suspension do you have?... You may think its good right now, but i doubt you know the feeling of truley having your feet planted on the road... while if you choose to compete in the races, you will be loosing tremendous amount of time while you have to brake alot to reduce speeds going around corners since you car has soo much stock body roll... here's what i usually see on cars that AUTOX.... Eibach Pro kit Springs... KYB AGX or Koni struts....front and rear lower sway bars... and strut tower bars on front and rear.... by reducing less body roll you can take corners at faster speeds.

dude,all honesty,i like to drive fast too,and ive tried the speed limiter mod but driving a z24 at 120+ is definently not the same as driving a corvette or trans-am at 120+. the front-ends of these cars feel so light that you can barely hold on to the damn thing, and a tap of the brakes throws the the steering slightly one way or the other that its almost scary to try and slow down using the brakes gradually,just think if some thing (deer etc...)jumped out in front of you and you HAD to use the brakes. and it really doesnt matter what brake upgrade you use cause these cars all weigh/ handle the same at 120+ on a straight-a-way... anyway, if you want to do it,your gonna find out how,i did,(and like everyone else said i was using it on a racetrack;thats bullshit haha) just be careful and do some listening here first,we all are here to help you to make your car run better/faster not to kill yourself.....

the venom thingy and jet thingy will both remove the limiter. As for drive ability, idk man all cars are different. My old 2.2L cavy would stop at 115MPH, and it would be shaky but i didnt have that problem with the brakes pulling and they worked pretty well. Maybe your car just needs some TLC.

ok...so if i was to look for a chip just for POWER .... not to go faster or anything, i bet you guys will snap at me to but there is a way to put a chip on the car JUST FOR eather fuel effecincy or power. The has to ba away because my bro has a 99 silverado and he did it and he can do burnys like all hell ..as before he did it he could do barly a cherp. Then there is my dads 98 S10 and with the same chip (because it has the same engine) my bro riged it so that it would get better then 10mpg .... does anyone know were i can get one of there ... i dont want to go faster ... i just want to get more acceleration.

I'm pretty sure we had a post less than a few weeks ago explaining how to remove the limiter :X
