Alright, most of my info is "if i remember right" so don't take any of this as word of god, but here it goes anyways.
The firehawk, is modded by SLP (i believe) and most if not all have superchargers (i think), but either way they were made in very limited quantities and have a fair amount of stuff on them, retail i have no idea since they aren't something you see around a lot.
The WS6 is the equivilant of the Camaro SS. It is the Formula/Trans Am with Ram-Air (the hood, the semi-functioning ram air) and frame/suspension upgrades (handling package). I believe its stuff like subframe connectors and stuff like that. Those retail somewhere in the neigborhood of $30,000.

The WS6 is 325hp/350 ft-lbs, and the firehawk is like 345hp i think. Go to Chevrolet's sight, go to camaro, then clubs/groups or something, the to SLP engeneering then you can check out the firehawk from there.

Firehawk is made by SLP.
GM ships the Trans Am to SLP and it is converted to a Firehawk by adding:
Suspension Upgrades
Hood
Rims
Less restrictive Catback exhaust
They are roughly the same in performance.
Firehawk is more rare however, and also more expensive.
No Firehawks come from the factory supercharged....NONE.

I understand those cars equipped with supercharged engines tend to have greater problems than those without it.

4ndrms: Your cousin's smoking crack. They are the same car. Any WS6 that is faster then an SS is mearly coincidental.
The Firehawk DOES NOT COME SUPERCHARGED. So I guess you don't have to worry about it breaking then, huh? All SLP does is remove the factory suspension, and replace parts of it with Bilstein Suspension components, replace the factory hood, decals, some emblems on the interior, and they swap exhausts for one that is slightly less restrictive.
In the end, you are getting a car that is the same performance wise, but is more rare. That is all.

I seem to remember somewhere out there on the net an article by ?Road and Track?(maybe, can't remember), and they did the 10 fastest production vehicles. I think there was a price limit on retail value, but I don't remember what it was. That doesn't matter anyway. But I remember that the trans am was 0.1-0.3 sec(or close to it) faster than the camaro.
They did point out in the article that this was merely a phenomenon where sometimes tolerances add up and sometimes they don't. They are the same car.
(can I possibly get any more vague lol) :bonghitte

Most drivers tend to believe the reason the WS6 is somehow slightly faster is due to its more functional "ram air" setup.
The SS hood flows air very poorly whereas the WS6 hood is VERY functional.
I'm not sure whether I believe it is the reason or not.

The Firehawk and the SS are both products of SLP, but the WS6... I'm almost positive that the WS6 is pure Pontiac. I think that is why the SS and the WS6 perform a little differently even though they are pretty much the "same" car. Motor Trend was one of the ones who claims that the WS6 is slightly faster than the standard SS.
The Firehawk and SS... if you order one, there are performance upgrades available for each. SLP offers their exhaust and lid package that will give you up to 345 hp... this is included in the warranty.
The WS6 does not have this option, but you can do these upgrades yourself afterwards... although I'm not sure they will still honor the warranty, if you do.
They're all good cars. Not much of a difference between them.

it's true, for the 2002 the ws6 has 325 and the firehawks have a huge 345, (i didn't believe it myself).
the ws6 and SS comparisons are pretty much the same the ws6 might have a slight advantage because of the ram air hood sending air right into the air box whereas the SS the air has to go into the scoops and all the way around the hood (lift up the hood and you'll see the "rib" where the air has to go before it hits the airbox) and then finally into the airbox. other than that i think they are pretty evenly matched.

I think that there are some misconceptions here. Riceboy has the gist of it, but here it is:
The SS is modified from a Z28 straight from the factory, while a Firehawk starts out it's life as either a Formula or a TA. The base SS and Firehawks come with 325 hp and the appearance mods that make them what they are. Two packages can be chosen when ordering your vehicle. The first is a dual-dual exhaust from SLP that is good for 10 hp. The second also includes the dual-dual exhaust, and also has the freer-flowing air box lid (the original has a waffle pattern on the underside, more restrictive). And like Blackbird said, other things can be added too, i.e. Bilstein suspension, etc.
Hopefully that helps y'all out.

The firehawk is not supercharged. Only thing is it has an slp airbox and slp exhaust. not the loudmouth just the muffler. and it has an upgrade in suspension

Hey guys, I was reading some of these threads and there are some discrepencies. Heres what I know. The Pontiac Firebird Firehawk doesnt start off as a Formula or a Trans Am, its just a Firehawk. The standard V-8 Formula comes with 310 hp. WS6 Trans Am comes with a stock 325 hp, The Firehawk has 330-345 hp- depending on year. All the motors use the LS-1 5.7 corvette engine. The difference in performance is in the mods. Most Firehawk are equiped with a Bilstein performance suspension, Borla exaust with full lenght headers. It also comes with performance brakes and a different ram air system than is on the WS6 Trans Am, and Firehawk rims. An there is definately a big difference in performance! The Firehawk is much faster. And NO they are not supercharged as someone said. Hope this helps some of you out!
