Hello this is my first post here, sorry if my english isn't that good. i'm italian and i'm not a modeling freak like almost anyone here, this is my first attempt to make a model and i've many things to learn, first of all to paint better
there are some low-res/low-light photos (sorry, i'm capturing with a camcorder)

most difficult part, self made front tubular structure, made by metal and spaghetti. i've added radiator tubes and coil springs too

the car body, not finished yet

the engine, with self made part of tubular structure here too and some tube added

You used noodles to build that?! Won't that stink after a while?

Well, it's looking good :)

:grinyes: :grinyes:

thanks to all, however spaghetti dosn't stink until they're not cooked :naughty: especially if painted
i used them because here we haven't plasticard tubes (i know, in USA they've a different name but i don't know it, they're from evergreen i guess), but only to do four parts. to do the rest i killed this

Forza Italia!
Welcome to AF, if this is your first ever model I feel ashamed of myself and what I can accomplish. It looks downright beautiful. Spaghetti is a new one....never heard of anyone using this in modeling :grinno: If you want to lay your hands on styrene stock check this out http://www.plastruct.com a bit hard to navigate their site but they have all sorts of plastic profiles and plain sheets in different thickness to. Now I'm even more determind to pick up my stalled 037-project, I have the '83 Monte Carlo winner. After seeing two of these fabolous cars here on AF in just a short time I'm begining to feel an itch for it again.

Keep it up and show me your progress
Niclas

CADGuy your avatar looks like Mastro Lindo... in USA you have the same pavement detergent? thank you :)

styrene yes i heard of it, thanks for the site!
i think 037 it's a very fascinating car, it's worth the time to add some missing part and complete this pretty limitated kit. unfortunately it hasn't the photoetched parts included, this is really bad! i'll not buy theme

bye!

Fabulous and very inventive work on your Lancia. Will look forward to seeing more of it.

affixed the hutch, hinges are simply two pieces of an inkjet cartridge envelope, not looking so good but it works (can't buy nothing better for now)

That is sweet. How would you rate the Haswega kit without all you extra work?

ToxicWaltz
11-30-2004, 12:18 PM
not too good... it's really 'empty', it has nothing particular except it's a 037. they lack the parts of engine that make the difference between evo1 and evo2, included in the 'cloned' sakatsu kit i used, and front tubular structure (why hasegawa made the bonnet opened? there's nothing to see inside!). glasses doesn't match. however it's really nice even closed

Ooh, looks very nice, but maybe a little tip, it will look much better if you painted the nuts on the rims...

Great build!

Actually built the same thing myself last year, maybe ill start detailing it this christmas. What really worked for me though, was to blackwash the rim outers. This added a lot of depth, and dish in the rear. Or try the same on the front hood, with the mesh on top. I remember it was very hard not to black wash the two 'reinforcements' you should see molded under the molded-in mesh, but if it work it'll give a really realistic touch.
Super scratchbuilding in the front, but to 'finish' it maybe it would be an idea to resin-copy a front wheel and stick it under there, like in the real car?

Then again, what am i whining about? :worshippy I AM NOT WORTHY!!!

Welcome... And thats one sweet car... Great work.. now I wish I can finish a car this good this fast....

ToxicWaltz
12-11-2004, 12:36 PM
thanks both!
rallyfanatic, a bit too difficult english for me, i'm still trying to translate

however there's no room for a full size wheel... as you can see i've assembled wrong the front spoiler, matching it with the bumper so i had to put the radiator backwards

do you have some photos to post?

sorry, i don't have a digital camera, but you could always thin the paint by a lot, and try on a wheel, a build up the layers. And about the spare wheel, it's a shame but there's not a real solution.
