hayabusa engine questions

ok j/w something. im not doing this at all but i might who knows. ok if i was going to trak race a hayabusa which engine setup would i chose. a turbo setup with a stroker kit, ported heads, turbo kit,upgraded clutch. or a n/a set up with 11.5 or higher pistons a stroker kit, individual thorttle bodies,and clutch. so which would bebeter for track and severe street? thanks guys

personally, i despise these kind of modifications on a bike that's perfectly capable of killing you standard, but i'll help, nonetheless :D :D

when talking "track", are you refferring to circuit or drag??

if your talking drag, i'd say the turbo option... but i guess with a small enough turbocharger to minimise lag, it could also be rather useful on the circuit-track, but that would require some testing.. for reliability reasons i'd probably use the N/A setup for circuit-track type applications, especially if its going to be ridden hard for long periods of time :)

Thats insane. My dads always syaing he wants to put a Turbo on it, but then he says "its just that i can barelly hang onto the thing as it is." I ono. Its just a really cool attention grabber when i get to school. Theres always this kid in his dads M3 Convert, and all the kids are looking at it, then my dad comes with with me on the back, and then all the kids merge from the M3 to the busa. Its cool to have attention just cause your dad has a kickass motorcycle.

My b/f has a 2k2 busa... I mean, his bike is nice and all, but I'd rather ride mine. ;) The back seat on the busa gets uncomfortable after... oh, about 100 miles.

lol, i think its really comfortable. And behind a 220 pound person, you barely get any wind and stuff lol

I got plenty of wind behind a person about that stature... It wasn't the cold or wind... it was just saddle sore.

A turbo on a busa will make it horrible on the track. After the turbo spools, the hp increase is so dramatic that you will lowside way to easy exiting a turn. For drag application though, it make for insane acceleration even after 100mph.

If you wanted to make it better on the track... try and reduce all the weight you can. Upgrade the brakes first, a general rule is if you want to go fast, be able to stop faster.

my only track day when i 'busa came along, he was the slowest. to big to flick through the twisty bits and the straight wasn't long enough for him to make a difference. the blackbird was the same. R1's comments are right on. to heavy to flick. maybe change the front tyre ratio to quicken the steering a little

What you said about tracking a busa is right on. I only rode mine on a track once and that was enough. There is a reason that everytime I see one parked in the paddock that the bike is wrecked. Its a combination of the extra weight and a longer wheelbase. Oh and the 150 or so hp at the wheel. On the street the bike is much easier to handle when hitting sweepers at 125+mph but the tight stuff really gives you a workout. That and the cornering clearance isn't that great. I have already touched the plastics down in some real tight stuff on the street. Pucker factor in effect.

As for a turbo? I have ridden them and they are fun. If you are drag racing go for it. Instant gratification. Get a programable boost controller and life is grand. If you are running road courses good luck. You had better be aone in the saddle cuz your bike is gonna buck you off. IMHO.

A 1990 Honda CBR1000F. 550lbs dry weight, 108rwhp and horrible cornering clearance. He runs within 5 or 6 seconds a lap at Beaverun from the track record. But he is also 51yrs old with over 30yrs experience riding. The looks he gets from young racers is priceless. I would venture to bet that someone with his riding skills could rip a turbo busa at the track, but it would be scary. :eek:

Yeah, this guy is SICK. If he ever updates and gets a REAL bike, we'll all be TOAST!!!!

Even without a real bike, we are toast. He just rides closer to our skill levels when we are around. Except that night in Virginia, jerky.

If you go look in the Cars in General section under Videos there is an on board video on a Turbo Hyabusa...its insanely fast. If anyone watches it, the speedometer is in mph too. That bike is crazy...It is running 18 lbs of boost!!

Forget the motor work and turbo, just learn how to ride. Nothing worse that a modded Busa running mid 12's.
