Thinking about a Bonneville

My Olds Aurora just died. It has the Northstar engine and it is not uncommon for the headbolts/alumn block to fail, creating a head gasket leak. It overheats and can't be taken out of town. It is a death sentence. Car might be worth $2,500 and it would cost more than that to fix the damn thing. And then something else would go out next month.

So I'm looking for cheap, but fairly nice transportation. High mileage doesn't scare me too much. I believe a 96 or later Bonneville would do the trick. My questions are: Are the recent Bonnevilles good cars? Is there anything to definitely avoid? Anything to make sure to get? Are there any problems that can be a death sentence for a given car like what I describe above?

I have a '93 Bonneville SE that I've had almost 5 years. I bought it with 92,500 miles on it, and the previous owner had just had the transmission replaced with a brand new one. I now have 188,000 on it, and the only reason I'm selling it is because I now have found a 1995 SSEi with 79,500 miles on it, and I don't need two.

I haven't done anything major to the car except replacing the alternator, battery, and general maintenance.

I HIGHLY recommend them, and at 6'-6" tall, it's hard for me to find decent cars anywhere that are comfortable. The Bonneville is really one of the only choices for me!
