Ticking noise

OK, 1st off my mods are(on a 2000 GTP) 3.4 SC pulley, DHP 1.0, ZZP stage 1 throttle body, FWI, 2.5' RT downpipe W/ highflow cat, and a DynoMax cat back exhaust system...

neway i am thinking the ticking is prolly KR but i just wanna see what u guys think...

when i idle or just drive around not using boost at all the car sounds fine...but when i get on it and use boost a bit like to get on the highway or something i start to hear a kinda faint ticking noise..the ticking speeds up as i accelerate more...

also the ticking does not sound metallic..(what i mean is, its not like a pinging noise, if that makes ne sence)..

another problem i had was I got on it pretty hard one day and my parking break light came on, and then when i let off the gas it went off. ( i told my friend and he said the same thing happend to him because of bad breaks or low fluid..he owns a Ford) just wanting to see if if could be the breaks or fluid or a lose connection somewhere.

ANY help would be great...ohh yeah and i an putting in a 180deg. thermostat and NGK plugs (tr6...whatever) the next decent day outside

I have the same thing on my GTX. Was told by GM that it's exhaust noise. It's been there, never have had any troubles. If your up north, may want to hold off on the 180, till spring.

ohh crap man...that just made me remember something!! after my RT downpipe got installed i went away on vacation for like 2 weeks..when i started the car up i had the hood up for some reason and where the downpipe connected to the crossover a little puff of smoke shot out when i revved it...then i never saw it again...so yes i think it may be an exhaust leak...now i am feeling a little better....do you know anything about the parking break light??

Ok, first things first...the ticking...where is it coming from, tons of things can tick. So we can't help if we don't know the source...is it under your car, in your engine bay, etc

2nd, the puff of smoke from the downpipe, the first time after it was installed...perfectly fine. It may have been a bit of wd40 burning off, it may have been some shavings or paint on the dp, plenty of things can cause a bit of smoke...my headers smoked a bit when I first installed them, because the black paint burnt off...no problem as long as the smoke doesn't continue

3rd..the break light...yes you are low on fluid...when you give it gas, the g-force or whatever causes the fluid to go to the back of the reseviour...the sensor is on the front, therefore it notices a drop in fluid and signals the light to go on...this can be remedied by putting in more fluid...HOWEVER..the reason the fluid is a bit lower is what matters.
A) unlikely because the light doesn't stay on, but you may have a leak
B) MOST LIKELY, your pads are getting worn down...as they wear down, the piston extends further to push the pads out and stop the car...when the pistons extend, more fluid goes into the master cylinder and leaves the reseviour...

So the temp fix is to put in more fluid...but keep an eye on your pads, as they are getting worn down..and will eventually need to be replaced...especially if you start to hear any squealing from the brakes.

thanx, i am pretty sure the noise is just an exhaust noise because i was taking to a few more people and they said they have the same problem with it...and with the breaks, i am getting new break pads and more fluid and all that good stuff..i am actually changing all the fluid throughout the entire car soon. neway still gunna scan the car for KR when i get my new plugs in but thatx for the help..and as for the puff of smoke it was exhaust smoke not something evaporating i believe..
thanx for the help,
~ Chris
