Clicking Noise from Fuel Pump

I have an 86 Prelude and periodically i hear a contant clicking noise that sounds as if it is coming from the fuel pump. Especially since it is not all the time i have a feeling that my feul pump is going out. This could also explain the hesitation i get every now and then when i am accelerating. Does the clicking noise sound like a fuel pump going out?
