Constant Front End Problem Fix

This is going to be a no brainer to some but to most, this is what is causing the constant front end ball joint failures and front end problems on s-series trucks.

GREASE YOUR FRONT END!

There are 11 grease fitting zercs to lube EVERY oil change. Do NOT think that your local oil shop is lubing them because I can guarantee you they are not.

Buy a grease gun and a tube of grease. Very cheap.

Both Upper Ball Joints
Both Lower Ball Joints
Both Inner Tie Rod Ends
Both Outer Tie Rod Ends
Idler Arms and Pitman Arms.

No one seems to EVER grease their front ends of their trucks. They come and complain about the constant replacements on s-series trucks and SUVs but they never get off of their asses and grease their truck ever.

Lube shops might get some of them but they usually will not because it takes too much time. I to was a victim of this and they said they were lubing it but low and behold, I crawled under the truck and most of them were dry as a bone.

I know on the 91 and 93's you have to take off the front skid cover to find one of the grease fittings. Good point too BLT.

My 99 Jimmy 4X4 has a front end noise as well, but typically when making a hard left turn. My neighbor works for a GMC dealer and we diagnosted it as having to do with the 4X4 trying to engage, even when in 2hi. We disconnected a vacuum hose and an electrical connection at the firewall and the noise went away. Of couse I can't use my 4X4 unless I reconnect these two things. With winter and rainy weather I would like to keep these connected all the time. Any thoughts as to what is going on? BTW I have replaced the 4X4 Control module last year due to quick shifting...it thought it was in 4lo all the time and was shifting to high gear before I even got out of the driveway!

This has nothing to do about greasing your front end so I really don't have a clue why you posted your 4x4 story here.

I didn' t think they were related, but with my limited mechanical ability, I thought it was worth a try since I saw this post about front end issues. Guess I will put up a brand new post!
