ha, well i wish you the best of luck, because it took my friend and i 4 hours of straight work to put mine in. You basically have to rip the whole under dash off, I've got an SR5 Xtra cab 91 pickup, so it could be a little different if yours isn't the same. I started with the right side, the glove box, theres a bolt on the far right, open the passenger door to get to it, remove that, a screw on the bottom right, a screw on the bottom left, top left, and top right. the top screws are only acsessable when you open the glove box. Be sure to disconect the glove box light too. The get under the steering column off, basically the same. The i took off the bottom in front of the shifter box, below the radio. Then there were a couple of screws and maybe 2 bolts on each side of the center dash area. i took that off. Be sure to unhook the change dish light, and the cigarette lighter cords. I had to take mine off up to the temperature sliders...yeah fun, be careful with that, take off the knobs and such and try not you make your light behind the sliders quit working like what happened to me. Then there are 2 or 4 bolts mounting the radio and that compartment below it on each side. Then it was pretty easy to get back in, mine looks really sharp with a mounting kit from autozone, the deck looks like it sits flush with the console, its actually set back in if you take the face off of it.
Once we got the new player in, more troubles came up. I don't know if this is just because mine is an SR5 and the rear speakers are different. When we hooked up the cords to do a test before mounting it the rear speakers would not get sound. they would from the stock radio, but not the cd deck, or another source i brought out. We tested my wiring harness with other speakers...perfect. Hmm, so we ripped out the back speakers and there is a circuit board behind them, the wire from the head unit goes into the board, then into the speaker. I'm guessing its a system of capacitors sort of like a mini amp. i left that in there and just ran new wire from the cd player to the speakers, good now!
So yeah, it was hell, but its worth it, hopefully you get this before having to go through what i did. good luck.
