ok i have an ATX and whenever i get on it i cant figure out what i should do with the pwr button and the overdrive. is it better acceleration to shift from L to 2 to D or not. and is it better accel with overdrive off/on and pwr off/on. now i know that pwr is pretty much a given but still.i just want to know the best way to launch an ATX
thanks
thanks

it doesnt matter if overdrive is on or not, or if your in 1st and shift to 2nd with the shifter inside the car, it will all be the same regardless of what your butt dyno tells you. Now, when racing, have the power mode on because economy mode will want to shift you 1,000 rpms earlier because its designed to save gas.

i doesnt matter whether u go from L to 2 or leave it it power and punch it, cuz when its pwr it shifts at 6500.. but with shifting from L to 2, theres a second or 2 delay with the shift, so ull want to shift it around 5500 or maybe even 5000

so overdrive doesnt matter at all with acceleration?

OD off will make it take off a lil faster if ur not tryin to race cuz it will shift at a lil bit higher rpm, whenever i have to get on it ill turn od off and pwr on

Overdrive is just your last gear, if it's on it will shift into 4th, if it's off it will go only to 3rd. With the ATX 3rd runs you to about 120 mph, so PWR on, Overdrive off for fastest ecu controlled launch....but if you go L to 2, you can redline it if you want, which brings you to a higher RPM when you shift to 2, meaning closer to your max HP....but I don't know which is faster, get a stopwatch and try both ways.

hi ihave a 3000gtsl atx and my pwr/ecq botton is broken its in the middle anyway if u want to go fast when racing turn overdrive of put it to first gear and about 6500-7000rpm shift to second gear and ur tires will squeal am telling u my car is stock took out some weight took the intake resonator out and sqeals everytime i do it plus take ur intake resonator out ur car will sound bad ass am telling u its cool

where excatly is that resonater and does it gain any hp?

its on your intake pipe, no horsepower gains, just a throatier intake sound. Its held on by a clamp, undo the clamp, find a vitamin bottle cap that'll fit in there and clamp it down and thats it.
As far as saying turning OD off will improve ECU response, ehhh, i wouldnt go that far, only if your racing from a roll and you turn OD off to go ahead and put you in 3rd gear, then its all good, from a stop, OD has nothing to do with first and second gear control.
Just follow these simple instructions if you are parked and know that you are about to race, its called resetting your ECU.
#1, disconnect the negative terminal to your battery
#2, go grab yourself a coke, i would say beer but no drinking and driving, and just chill for about 10 or 15 minutes
#3, place the negative terminal back on your battery and your done
this will reset your computer for optimal shifting points

y would u need to reset an ecu? what would change how it shifts?.. and how often would this have to be done?

to shift from L to 2 to D or not
Never do that. That's hell on your tranny.
Overdrive has nothing to do with acceleration. Any differance in acceleration you feel with OD on vs. off is all in your head. Overdrive is just 4th gear. With it on your car shift to 4th, with it off it stays in 3rd.
The intake resonator might possibly give you +.25 HP gain and even teh sound change isn't all that noticeable (more so at higher RPMs than lower).

Never, there's no point doing that. unless you've been messing with other stuff on your car, this isn't going to do squat.
As far as the best method for racing; PWR on and OD (doesn't really matter but I usually turn it) off. PWR/ECO changes your shift points. With PWR on the engine will accelerate to redline before shifting and people debate that it pulls a little harder with PWR on but that really is just that, debatable. For launches, practice brake tourqing (probably the most effective way to launch an ATX). Hold the brake all the way down and slowly push the gas. When you want to take off, release the brake and depress the gas. But I'm saying practice because you need to figure out what RPM range gives you the best hookup with the least wheel spin and wheel hop.

ya for some reason it feels that from a roll w/od off the car accelerates quicker but from a stop its slower. it probly is all in my head. also im done with the L,2,D stuff. my friend told me that his brother did that all the time and it ruined his tranny. thanks for all the info.
