front springs installation???

i have a s14 and just bought some H&R springs. got the backs on but having trouble putting on the front ones. cause the springs makes the shock too land wouldnt fit onto where the shock sits. it is extremely difficult to fit it. any suggestions??? and how do you guys put in the springs???

not really sure what's goin on by your description but wouldn't you just use a spring compressor?
